    TalkTalk are upping their competition.

From yesterday the Topcashback offer has gone from £105 to £126 (ADSL and line) and since earlier this afternoon, their on site Love to Shop card has gone from £50 to £100.

So I went onto the live chat to cancel as they shoved me onto the new £4 talk plan. I now have my line rental discounted down to £8.70, the talk plan discounted down to £2 and a credit of £24 to cover the £2 a month talk package increase.

    Can't really complain at that

How on earth did you get on the chat ? I have been trying all day and when I get a place the website goes funny and throws me out.
  • I had an online chat with Sky this evening, in response to the letter received advising of the increase in landline and package charges (£17.40 landline and £4 per month for eve/wkend calls). I rarely use my landline, and only have it so i can get broadband - not in a cable area. As the chat went on, it started to look like Sky would not give me any offers as I had free broadband when i first signed up (which might be true, it was so long ago I can't remember) and my last offer of 10 months free broadband just ended. How do i haggle my way out of broadband charges?
I don't want movies, sports, box sets or HD channels. i'm on the most basic TV package and get 6.84Mbps download speed, I've already got a 1TB sky+HD box (which is fine but there's more to lose when the box fails, as happened with my previous box), anyone any suggestions?

We have tv, broadband and phone with sky. If i cancel my line rental as I never use the phone will the broadband cost revert to the price of it being provided seperate or can that be cancelled aswell.
We are moving next week so would rather go back to virgin for broadband.

The new Anytime package which includes mobiles is not available till December 1st. They are currently on the current Anytime package which does not include mobiles.

    So they have to wait.

No they don't -your incorrect advice would cost the poster money. I've been switching customers to anytime extra since July when it was launched .
The anytime extra package at eight pounds is available and on sale definitely both to new and existing customers. The poster could call up now and switch - 01 December is the date it will be moved over *if they do nothing^.

There is no charge to switch so I don't understand what the poster meant by "how much it will cost".

Oh and an insiders tip - the switching phone package earlier can be done by the Broadband tech agents as well as cancellations and upgrades - so if there's a long wait for cancellations redial and tell the automated system that your phone or BB isn't working instead .

Thank you. :T :money:  :A

Mum and Dad are delighted as I have just phoned and spoke to Mum and explained everything to her. Now they will only need 18185 for calling mobile phone in the Republic of Ireland.

Glad I saw your post -it is worth noting that the anytime extra package also includes *landline*calls to Ireland (and 21 other "popular destinations") at 2p a minute (I realize your parents also call Irish mobiles but thought it was worth mentioning as the focus seems to be on the mobile aspect and the cheap international calls in the package has been pretty much ignored on this thread )

Just to emphasize to get the anytime extra before 01 December you have to call to switch it -it isn't automatically moved til 01 December but if the new package works out better it makes sense to call and switch earlier. I find the customers with teenagers who are always running out of credit and using the landline to ring their friends mobiles are especially keen as it will remove the need to nag at them :D

It doesn't say that on the Sky site.

By the description of the new package there is a link for current customers to log in.

As you are paying more, surely Sky wouldn't mind someone taking it early ?

Sky don't mind at all .
I've been offering it to customers (and switching them) who will benefit since July even though I don't work in sales but tech as I took the view that it's something I'd want to be told was available if I was the customer. It actually amazes me how many people have mobiles but use the landline for mobile calls very frequently to the tune of thirty pounds a month or more - so the anytime extra switch was a no brainer.
