I have just received an email from Cheap energy club advising my Collective Sept switch is now complete. So based on that I have gone via Top cash back site through to USwitch for the October switch.

I obviously will be saving money but preferred the cash back to the bottles of wine.
  • I have just switched to Eon from Ovo with Energy Club collective switch. I am quite a bit in credit with Ovo, so rang them to ask how long it would take to get this money back. I was told the final readings have to be verified by an independent body which can take up to six weeks. This is not the first time I have switched but I have never heard of this before and wonder if anyone else has? I supplied my readings when asked to do so and I have a smart meter so Ovo can very easily check them.

Thats the pitfalls of dealing with a minor operator.

According to Ovo, this is a legal requirement on all energy companies.

    Good morning Malc,

I received an email from cheap energy club to say my switch was complete for the September collective switch 2015. However after receiving that email I decided to transfer to U Switch collective switch October 2015.

I received an email from U Switch about 4 days ago saying my request had been received by E.on. However the switch still has not happened.

When I did this before and transferred to collective September 2015 it was done the next day. Do you know if there is any delay in putting customers on the new tariff.

    With thanks,
    MABLE
  • No worries,

Good idea, but I'm here to help as always :)

We have now completed out switch (although we haven't had an email to confirm this, but I can see from our online account that we are now with EON as of today) we had a letter from our old supplier saying when the switch was happening and asking us to provide a final meter reading.

Quick question, Do I have to give the meter reading that I supplied to EON for our opening reading even though this was taken on the 16th October?

    Thanks :)

    Morning Cazzy1987,

So pleased things are going well :D super to hear!

In the change of supplier process, the customer would normally give the start reads to the new supplier, they would then send these reads to your old supplier via some third parties to verify etc.

This can all take a little bit of time and is all done electronically, you can of course give your old supplier the reads as well.

Our start reads and the final reads need to be the same, this is to ensure there's no overlapping and the make sure the charges are correct.

So, as you've given us your start reads we'll send these to the old supplier to produce your final bill, the reads are normally sent within around 32 working days, sometimes sooner.

    Hope this helps :)

Thank you Helena, that is a big help. I will give them the reading I gave to you on the 16th then as our final reading. On the old suppliers website it asks to put a date that the reading was taken on, should I just put this as todays date so it doesn't confuse things? :)

    Thanks again!

    Morning MABLE

Sorry, the uSwitch Collective switches are going through a bit slower than the MSE one. At the moment, we're looking to complete within 10 working days of receiving the details from uSwitch. Don't worry, though, it'll be backdated to the day we received the request as stated in the email you've received from uSwitch.

Once done, we'll email to let you know and your online account will update to show the new tariff on the right hand side of the first page.

Hope this helps MABLE. Let me know if you need any more information as always happy to help.

    Malc,

Would I be right in thinking that you'll be using an estimated meter reading for the backdated switch date for existing customers unless the customer has entered one for the date they applied via uSwitch?

Think you need to get more staff on the case to meet demand or change the message customers are currently being given by uSwitch.
