VW fiddling emissions data

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34311819

Only affects 1 model in the US at present, wonder how many more yet to be found. Potential for a E18billion fine.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Not surprised really, when profits over regulation/consumer matters.

    Karma sucks for them.

If it applies to UK vehicles then Mr. Taxman may well be looking for his additional revenue ... where does that leave people who have bought VWs?

    This had crossed my mind

But I think a lot (if not all) VW sold new in North America are made in the US.

I suspect it will turn out to be an issue specific to VW of North America which is probably legally seperate to VW in Germany.

Though going by the way BP were blamed over the oil spill caused by the actions of sub contractors in NA I suspect little will be made of that.

I wonder if Audi were also up to it? As technically the vehicles are also very similar.

Manufacturers have been doing this for years, not just VW.

More than 1 it seems ... "The EPA found the "defeat device" in diesel cars including the Audi A3, VW Jetta, Beetle, Golf and Passat models."

...as has half the UK population - suddenly the day before the MOT test making sure it will pass.
These days I need to put 'cataclean' in the fuel 4 weeks prior to ensure it passes the emission test.

I would be very surprised if it did not turn out that other manufacturers have not been doing the same.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I'm sure this has already been posted, and that I replied cursing Nissan for NOT doing this well enough and getting my car into VED band A. :(
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
