Lots of the VW vehicles concerned were manufactured before AdBlue was introduced.

With the small amount of reading I did on this subject it would appear that non AdBlue vehicles are the problem.

So likely out of warranty now? Really no reason for the owners to bother to take them in for the fix.

I wonder if the recall may be compulsory.

As surely there may be a compliance issue with the vehicles Type Approval as it doesn't meet the specs the manufacturer stated.

I think this has been covered a number of pages back on this thread. It isn't going to be an official recall as it not safety related and will not be compulsory.

And I wonder how many legally modified vehicles out there of all makes are outside of type approval specification, are we going to recall all of those and return them to 'stock'?

    Owner modifications are irrelevant

This is a group over vehicles that obtained their type approval falsely from new with the full backing of VAG themselves.

Not even slightly the same as an owner modifying their car.

What engine size? I have the 2.0l TDi Bluemotion at 140PS (Golf GT) and it is plenty quick enough.

1.6 TDI. Narrow powerband with leggy clunky gbox. What's not to like :)
