Filled in the form using the template provided, popped in the post and just received a cheque for £147. Now off to find out who I got it through originally - I'm thinking GE Capital.
  • I sent my claim form off at the end of January and got a cheque back for £394.09 which was a result indeed. And that was because the policy I had taken out was through MBNA, of whom I am still a customer. Today, I received a cheque out of the blue from Lloyds Bank stating that their records showed that I had previously had a policy with them which started on the 18th March 1993 and they would now like to refund the premiums that I paid before the 14th January 2005 as this period was 'not within the scope of the Affinion Scheme of Arrangement'.

The cheque was for £199.65 (which the missus has already spent in her head!) and it was broken down by premiums paid, plus interest, less tax on interest. The weird thing was that I never actually applied for this and to be honest, never even knew about it. All I knew was that when I was younger, I did bank with Lloyds, so a nice surprise.
  • Fabulous successes everyone! Keep them coming!

Affinion claim that they cannot find my account (pre2005). I have no paperwork but know I had a sentinel card. I'm sure it was through barclaycard, but was any other company attached to affinion?
    Thank you.
  • I have just received £399.15 for my claim which I started on 25.02.16. Thank you for your help

Great to hear of everyone's successes.
Sentinel have paid me for pre-2005 but refusing to pay interest saying it is Goodwill only. I see payments from banks for time prior to 2005 include interest. The amount I'm due would be £50-£60
I'm wanting to take it to the Ombudsman.
What do people think? Thank you,
    Pete
  • Hi all,

I recently received a reminder letter in from AI about the compensation scheme. I am claiming on behalf of my grandmother who has dementia. Given that neither of us have any knowledge of what the product was, we wrote the following on section B of the form:

In response to your letter I wish to lodge a compensation claim on behalf of _______who is suffering from dementia. She is very concerned after receiving your letters but is unable to recall details of the product. I am ________ and I have Power of Attorney for her. Given that the closing date for claims is very soon, I would appreciate if you would contact me to discuss next steps.

I was sent a standard letter which did not make reference to my comments and another claim form. What do you advise?

    Thanks
  • I was slightly disappointed at the amount refunded. Only part of the time I had AI was included in the refund scheme. A few weeks later, having done no more, I was pleased to receive a cheque from
Lloyds for all the rest of the premiums I had paid, which the bank was coughing up voluntarily. Seems odd to be praising a bank, but this is good service. :T

  • I received a letter in the post with a form which I filled in and sent back. I don't remember having this product. I received a cheque for £38.00 which I am really pleased with as I wasn't expecting anything and every penny counts.
