  • Does anyone have a copy of the actual claim form for card protection claim. Closing date for receipt of this is tomorrow 18.03.16. If anyone could email one to me I would be very grateful.

HI All.... I've just phoned the AI scheme as was unsure of when I had the product (thought it was years ago) They told me I had Sentinel through Lloyds bank from '97-'07. I was given a number for Lloyds to call and was told I didn't need to do anything if I'd filled in my claim form and sent back to AI.... I would get my first cheque (from 2005 onwards) and then automatically 4 weeks later get the years prior to 1997. He did say to me he bet I didn't think it would be that simple!! Seems too simple to me??? Anyone any advice please?
  • Hi

I'm a complete novice, so looking for advice...... I found some old paperwork after we had moved for a Gold Sentinel product, which I didn't realise I had taken out? and seen something on Martins Money. Just reading some information on the site I noticed the date to submit claims has expired. So I contacted them directly to explain I had never received any correspondence from them, to either my old or new address? There colleague was as helpful as could be but didn't fill me with hope. There are exceptional circumstances but explained mine would come under any of the criteria.
How could I have applied if I didn't receive the information to begin with? Do you think it will be worth writing to appeal?

    Thanks

  • Another BIG thank you to MSE for the template letter for pre-AI scheme claims. I have now received a cheque from the AI scheme and compensation from Barclaycard. One claim form + one letter = £680. Well chuffed!

Success! I got premiums, interest and compensation from the Co-Operative Bank Plc. To the tune of £111.52.
Using your MSE template letter on web site, first I called them to note it down as a formal complaint, and also ask for written confirmation. Within days I had a rejection letter, stating:-

“you took out the product before 14 January 2005 and did not make any payments after that date.
The scheme does not cover payments made before this date. Although you are not entitled to compensation as part of the scheme you still have the right to complain about the product and the way it was sold”

Following your advice on the website, I was not discouraged by their rejection letter.
Sending a letter of complaint and supplied policy schedule & renewal documents showing premiums paid from 19-Oct-1997 to 14-Jan-2005, and sent it special delivery.

After assessment of my complaint the Co-Operative Bank Plc decided there were failings with the sale of my Affinion international card security product (Sentinel ).

A great result, Thanks for all your advice MSE.

P.S. I didn't received a notification letter from the AI scheme, but to be fair I have moved house.
  • Hi,

I assumed this was a scam and ignored but after doing a clear out this weekend I came across the forms again and found that this is genuine. As the claim date has passed will I still be able to claim back?

    Thanks

    Of course not.
  • Hi. I have a lloyds credit card with which I have been paying the 'ID Aware' service ever since I've had the card. I have tried to find out whether this service is part of the sentinel scheme, but cannot find anything. Because of this, I am not sure if I am entitled to any form of a refund?

Also, when I read MSE page about how to claim money back, I checked on my statements and it seems I stopped paying the monthly payment in January. I did not receive anything to say this service would be stopping or changing etc. Wondered if anyone can shed some light!

    Thank you!
  • Completed claim form 2005 to 2015. E-Mailed my bank for 1998 to 2005.

Total amount received £433.42. 2 cheque's received within days of one another and no paperwork required as proof.

So easy to do and had no hassle whatsoever. Win win in my book

Same for me. I kept all the AI Scheme letters, followed the MSE guidance here and used the MSE template letter as a framework for my own application. I made one phone call for help on an issue to the AI Scheme admin office. They couldn't have been more helpful. Three weeks later a cheque for £180 arrived. This reminded me that it's wise to read incoming correspondence and keep transaction records.
