    Hi
    I've just tried to cash the cheque that I've received and its expired as its just over 6 months old. Is there anything that can be done? They said they won't reissue the cheque
    No reported successes in this thread or any other of anyone having expired cheques re-issued.
    Here's the official reasoning behind this;
    Section 5.10 of the High Court's Scheme Arrangement:

    Any cheque not encashed within six months shall be cancelled and the Scheme Claim to which it relates shall be deemed to have expired and such Scheme Creditor shall not receive any Redress and shall have no right of recourse to the Dispute Resolution Procedure. Hi,

    So I want to start the process, but I'm not sure I have all the account names and numbers of the cards I had. What is the best way to begin the process.

    Is it best to contact Sentinel first and ask them to check their records?

    Thanks

    I would contact them, and say you are claiming for mis-selling and not under the terms of their scheme as that has ended.

    You have nothing to lose apart from time and the price of your stamp

    The scheme was about mis-selling!
    Anyone writing to complain now will just be informed they are too late. OP "rezarf"could possibly take Sentinel to court, but doesn't appear to even have evidence that he held an account!

    As you say, it will only cost the price of a stamp (or £10 for a SAR), but it really is too late.

    We received our compensation from the AI scheme. But it was a useful service; we have lost the facility to communicate card losses in one place and key tags. Is there an alternative, or should I start anew with Affinion?

    So why did you effectively complain that it was mis-sold ?

    Regardless, similar insurance is still available-but you'll have to search for it yourself.

    Have successfully claimed from AI for Sentinel product mis-sold from 2005 & in line with Martin's recommendation have tried to claim from 1990's through to 2005 from Bank (Barclays). They deny any responsibility & forwarded it to Barclaycard. They, in turn, deny any responsibility & have forwarded it to Sentinel/AI. Two months on, nil response from AI. Any other forumites had any succes with pre- 2005 AI/Sentinel claims?
  • I have been paying for Sentinal card insurance since July 2010 with not really know what it was, after reading this article i email my bank (Lloyds) with the template provided and within 5 day i recieved a letter saying they where going to give me all the charges back plus intrest with works out to just under £600. really easy and really worth doing. :j:beer:

    Hi We completed forms and returned but didn't here anything. We then wrote to them to say that we presumed we were not entitled. AI replied saying that they had sent the cheque and letter to number 34 (we live at 34a) earlier this year and it had been returned saying we didn't live there so, because of the 6 month rule it has been cancelled and cheque destroyed! Can they do this? Our neighbour had only just moved in and probably presumed our name was the previous occupier. Any advice?

    My Mum received a refund under the AI scheme and shed asked me to investigate if she was owed anything for pre 2005 as she was sure she'd had the CPP from getting her credit cards.

    We rang AI Scheme on 19/8/16 and they confirmed that 2 policies were in place pre 2005 (one from 1995 and one from 1996).

    We rang Barclaycard and spoke to someone from an Indian call centre, we explained that we wanted to claim pre 2005 and we were very (un)helpfully put straight back to AI Sentinel :mad: We explained what had happened and the advisor wespoke to transferred my call to their Customer Relations Dept. They confirmed that the 2 policies were opened pre 2005 and stated they would pass details direct to Barclaycard and Lloyds (Halifax credit card) and that we should hear from them within 6-8 weeks.

    We received confirmation letter of action taken and within a week we had a letter from Barclaycard saying they would be looking into it and enclosed a payment preference form in the event of a refund. We filled this in and returned same day.

    Yesterday 2 letters thru' the letterbox:

    Barclaycard offering £579.17 (and another payment preference form to complete and return - even tho' we did that a week ago)

    Lloyds enclosing a cheque for £303.58

    ::T

    Mum is very pleased with the result as am I (to a point) but I'm looking at the figures and it doesn't seem right....Lloyds were paid £75 less than Barclaycard so why is there such a big difference in the amounts offered? Just wondering if Lloyds are trying to pull a fast one? Or if I'm missing something. Any help/info greatly appreciated.

    Whole process was far, far easier than we could ever have imagined. AI Scheme on 08006781930 are able to tell you exactly when policies were taken out. For the sake of a 15 minute phonecall my Mum is getting back almost £900 so if anyone if thinking is it worth it, this will hopefully show you that it most certainly is.

    This has fired me up to take Abbey Life to task for mis-selling insurance policies to my parents 30+ years ago
