Elderly keying my new car

Rover, you have my sympathy. I am also foreign, as was my mother in my land of birth. She was a spunky lady who went abroad in 1946 at the age of 26. When told to go back to where she came from, her reply was a deeply distainful "if I meet many more like you I certainly shall". These things happen in all countries, but on the plus side there are some wonderful people and places in Britain and for the most part it is safe.
I have waded through all the visceral off-topic comments in this thread to find out the result, suspect you are right nothing will be done, but on the positive side, no more scratches!
We had a somewhat similar experience, our neighbour had someone grind off nine inches of our front garden wall to give her more space to back out her car. Because of the difference in age, we could do nothing that wouldn't look like bullying. However, she has great difficulty in getting tradesmen now.
Will bookmark this thread to see what happens in the future.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

Not where the elderly are involved.....
Remember the OAP in the Ranger Rover? the on who refused to stop for Police? Got his windows smashed in when they finally stopped him? If that had been a young lad, the media wouldn't have taken his side at all, but someone released the most damning part of the onboard video (on the Police car) and because it was an OAP the media turned on the Police.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OP, just to say that these things sometimes do take forever. I have 2 friends whose sons were each accused of a crime (different crimes, not related to each-other). One waited 14 months for his case to come to court (and was acquitted, thankfully). The other was first arrested 12 months ago and has been answering bail every 3 months since then. His case is still under investigation even now.0

I don't talk from experience of one event ! If someone commits a crime they are dealt with for it , their age has no consequence and neither does their status in society.0 -
OP, you mentioned eairlier in the thread that you had spek with the NEighbourhood Watch Group and that hey were shocked, and also that many of your neighbours have signed a petition.
Have you ben back in contact with Neighbouthood Watch yourself? Have you considered joining the group yourself?
It may be worth asking them (not demanding) whether it is appropriate for her to continue to be a part of the group bearing in mind the allegations of criminal behaviour against her, and also to ask whether they can suggest any further steps to keep your street safer.
If any of the same neighbours who signed our petition are also in the Neighbourhood Watch group then they may be able to bakc up what you say and the group may be able to reconsider what role she has within the group.
I think in light of the conflicting details you've been given by the police it may be worth you writing to the Inspector once again to set out what you have ben told and to ask for clarification - is she currently bailed, and if so, what are the conditions, and has she yet been charged.
You can also ask whether they can log the malicious allegations she has made against you as harassment. You can also raise the comment the officer made about not wanting to go after an old lady and raise our concern that while you recognise that she is not your normal thug she has caused an enoumous amount of upset and damage and you remain very conerned about the apparent lack of will to address the issue.
They would have to investigate any claims she made, but it sounds as though they are satisfied that the claims are unfounded and that they do not need to go on to interview you formally at all.
Finally - have you considered talking to your local Victim Support group - they are likely to be familiar with the local police and may be able to help you make sense of the various bits of information you are given. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
