Elderly keying my new car

Shame the euthanasia bill didn't pass. Send her to Syria, see what happens when she keys some IS members' machine gun equipped land rover.
You have far better restraint than me, rover.0 -
How do you know it's a racist crime. Are the other neighbours who she's targeted also claiming it's racism.
She could just be peed off with people parking on the pavements.
She could be peed off with houses filming people walking along pavements.
The OP could be an unsociable neighbour
We are only hearing one side of the story. Sometimes there is more background to the story which has driven her to this. Not saying her actions are acceptable but we don't know if she is suffering from harassment which has affected her judgement. We should not be too quick to judge.
The neighbour was finally caught on another neighbour's CCTV after which we installed our own. Furthermore, only foreigner's cars are keyed. She is quite open to her racist views - telling us that she has worked in immigration and wishes she could "cleanse" the land. Being called refugee is another neat reminder.
Finally, regardless whether we are good neighbours or not no body has the right to destroy your property. FYI: I did mow her lawn, help her with shopping, even kept her company on many occasions - same as the others. She would then smile and be nice old lady until she reports us to the council for having tampered with our pipes.

There are 15 houses on the street - 1 is the lady's, 1 was recently vacated, we have signatures from 10 of the houses and waiting for one of the neighbours to come back from holiday.
I guess that is enough to showcase her character0 -
You sound like one of those "do gooders" we hear about finding excuses for everyone who does something wrong !
Ask any policeman (though now it's PCSO) what they spend most time dealing with and it will be neighbour hood disputes about parking! Go to a Police community meeting and again it will be full of people complaining of parking.
Years ago I had neighbours who squabbled over parking outside each other's houses. When I listened to each person's story they were always blameless though they were as bad as each other by putting nails on the road so they would drive over them if they parked in a certain spot, deliberately taking up 2 spaces so the other couldn't park. I wouldn't be surprised if they were keying each other's cars too! Both though took the moral high ground as one felt as a retiree age and maturity made him in the right while the other felt victimised as he was a young man and new comer to the area!
One of the reasons we moved away as they were dragging all the neighbours, and anyone else who would listen, into their arguments! They were both in the wrong but you only ever got one side from them. Same on this forum, only one side.Uhm.. glad you said it. Please however read the whole thread.

I have read the whole thread - you will note I commented very early on - but racism only raised its head when you were taken to task about parking on the pavement.
Clearly something has happened with this lady (or she has perceived something has happened/changed) to make her behave like this and as I said "not saying her actions are acceptable" but contributors to this thread shouldn't jump in and condemn the woman without considering there may be other factors involved.
Personally I would hate to live in a street where my neighbours had CCTV on the road as I feel it would be an invasion of my privacy at my home. I accept it in City Centres but I like to think I could nip out to my car in my PJs late at night without a neighbour catching me on film!~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

The OP first post, before updated 3 days after posting, made no mention of it being racially motivated. It was post 20 before any allegations were made about it being racist.Originally Posted by rover005
Hi all, I have found myself in a huge hassle.
For the past 5 years, someone has been keying the cars to the residents of a closed avenue in London. After fixing my cars, they would get keyed again. After upgrading vehicles - they would get keyed instantly. So, a couple of weeks ago, I had my new Rangie parked outside and it got keyed. Luckily, turns out the neighbours across the street had a CCTV and were happy to review footage.
On footage, it is clear that since I parked till we discovered the scratch, she is the only one passing by and stopping for a second [a 75 yo ex-council and immigration officer worker to fit the picture]. We called the police, and after the details were collected, they spoke to her and a week later, (with our shiny new CCTV) we caught her keying our friend's car clear as day.
So now the police have said there isn't sufficient information (even though reports in the past years have been made against unknown criminal for keying cars). They are even denying to view the new footage.
Does anyone know what is the best course of action? Threatening the police to put a complaint for no action is certainly on the list.

Personally I think that it was quite proper that the OP didn't play the
racism card in his original post ...he stuck to the immediate complaint of persistent vandalism.0 -

As for those trying to make excuses for her, i.e. "race card being played", utter !!!!!!!!, total !!!!!!!!. Rover has barely mentioned it on this thread, however, when asked has raised it. It sounds to me as though he has conducted himself with absolute dignity while she has continued to damage peoples property. I'm not one for criminalizing petty crimes (no, I don't think you should go to jail for stealing a bottle of water), but this is a woman who has persistently vandalized cars, has continually damaged other peoples property without remorse and by the sounds of it, has a racially motivated agenda. If this was a 23 year old lad, you'd be calling for his head on a platter. Too often, we make excuses for people who on the outside, may look like the innocent victim, but the woman in this case is absolutely not that. Her age, should not come into it, in as far as, she needs to be punished.
I believe the best thing for her, would be a criminal conviction, where she learns about her errors, and subsequently evicted from her home to somewhere else. Real world consequences.0 -
Good for him. Why is it relevant though? The woman involved in this case is, no matter how you dress it up, a criminal. Just because Aston Martin drivers have enough wedge to get that key mark fixed, doesn't mean the rest of us do!

Thank you for your post - I do not believe in racism thus why I would never blame anyone in it . However after calming down and re-thinking eveything it came to me that this may well be the reason - especially the audio recording and the numerous occasions I was sent home.
An interesting thing is that I now have 13/15 house's signatures. Turns out one of the neighbours (Lithuanians) have a very good opinion of her. They were the first to claim that she been nothing but nice to them.
So what do you make of it? Is she racist or did she say what she said in the heat of the moment?0 -

She is of an age where racism may not seem important to her
Without being to personal does she see the Lithuanians as more her kind of people due to skin colour and if you have a different skin colour she thinks of you as a more obvious foreigner .
(no offence is meant by this just trying to think of reasons)0
