Hmm, still no email from MSM.
I don't think I left a cookie trail when I pasted the link across from one browser to another.
I have another account that I can switch, maybe I can try again?
Maybe this time from MSE weekly email.

Update: I tried again but said that my email had already been used once on this promotion. I guess I just need to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather0 -
I applied yesterday using the incentive link, and received an email stating that I needed to go into branch with ID. I already have a Nationwide Flex Direct that has just come to the end of its 12 months and is paying 1%. I phoned up to query the branch visit and to "merge" my accounts and was told that I would not get 5% on the new account because I still had one account open. She said that I could only have two accounts if one was single and the other joint, and even then they would both pay 1% at this stage. She said I would have to close the first account and reapply 12 months later for a 5% account.
I thought someone here said you could have 4 accounts- thats why I applied??:(0 -

You are allowed 4 current accounts. All 4 can be FlexDirects, and they can all be in your sole name.
You won't get 5% on any FlexDirect if you have had one in the last 12 months (which you have).
They seem to always send out that boilerplate email now that says you need to into Branch with ID. You don't have to do that if you are an existing account holder - just ignore the email and wait for a couple of working days and your new account should be showing in your online banking.
I opened a 2nd sole FlexDirect last Thursday, and got the email with the Branch/ID nonsense, which I ignored. On Friday, I had another email, advising that the account was now open. It finally appeared online this morning.0 -
I tried to switch a Natwest account, using the Nationwide online dialogue. It wouldn't let me do it as they said the sort code 53-50-61 is invalid.
I then had to ring them and listen to reams of switch T&Cs but they did manage to recognise the sort code and my switch is now underway.
Just as well I get paid £100 for it.

As part of This switch process(to Nationwide Flex Direct) did you have to quote the 16 digit number on the debit card or did they just need the sort code and account number.0 -
Does anyone know if it makes any difference by ticking the box at the end of the online application stated you do not want to switch until later.
The only reason I ask is because I waited for the account to appear online and then did the switch.
I did not know whether this may cause a problem tracking the transaction for the cash back.0 -
I also didn't ask for the switch as part of the application. It shouldn't cause any problem, and if it does, I will complain as the T&Cs don't say you have to apply for the switch at the time of applying for the account.0
-
Just remember that when you do come to switch, be sure not to fall foul of condition 2...Customers who switch via telephone are not eligible for this offer.0
-
I believe the incentive is within 30 days of the switch being completed, nothing in the T&C to say you have to switch as part of the application, but Im not sure how it will link together if you go into branch, I suppose if you have the email from MSE then it has linked okay...
I got the text from nationwide today saying my switch is in process, as I didn't get the chance to choose a date...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
