  • just spoken to Stephanie - all approved and cheque going out today. Thanks for the phone number info - speeded the whole thing up. No idea why it was refused initially, but the phone call helped immensely.

I've just received an email advising that my cheque is on the way, 2nd class post, and to contact them if it's not arrived within 5 working days.

My switching confirmation email was dated 21/10 so it would appear that the aforementioned 2 week's backlog is about right - tomorrow will make 40 working days since the switch was completed.
  • This is what I received "In order to qualify for the Nationwide cashback offer a full switch needed to have been processed with complete closure of your old account within 45 days of completing the online form.

Unfortunately we cannot action anything without Nationwide’s authorisation so we will not be issuing you the cashback incentive."

My account was shut due to the switch and this happened within 45 days. Is it best to ring the number you guys rang or Nationwide?

Just had an email as well. In post 2nd class as above.
    3.55kw 2 systems 2.3 se 1.25 sw installed may 2011 and oct 2011..

I have never been mis sold anything but i have bought a few things i didnt need!
  • So I rang that special number, that seems to do the trick.

She asked if I applied online, I said yes. Also she asked had dd and salary all switched and then balance? She asked if I switched before 10th Oct as that's when promotion finished. I said I had an email from MSM saying that I qualify and thank you for applying, which was dated 10th but switch took place on 22nd Oct finished on 2nd Nov.

Now looking online at Nationwide account, I don't have any dd or salary being paid into it. I don't believe that was part of the T&C, so didn't think anything of it. Will not having any dd and salary going in mean I don't qualify for switch? I didn't ask her.

She says she'll submit a form to Nationwide, which will take a week turnaround. I wait some more to hear.

You shouldn't need to "ask her". The T&Cs are very clear. They were reproduced in post #12 in this very thread, including a link which still works. There is no mention of DDs or salary. Did you comply with them? If you did, then you'll get your £100...eventually!

FWIW, I switched a (small) credit balance and 2 (small) standing orders, my usual approach for an offer not specifying DDs. Payment received more or less within the specified timescale.

I think they're in so much disarray that they've simply run a new batch of emails to everyone who availed of the offer.

Despite banking my cheque over 7 weeks ago I too have today received an email informing me that my cheque is on it's way!

All that the switch did with mine was copy one payee (*) to the Nationwide a/c and close my Halifax a/c. I had zero balance, no DDs and no regular payments going in. The email received today advised that I should get my cheque within 5 working days.

(*) That one did surprise me. I hadn't expected it to do that (since it was only ever used for manually instigated payments) but, when I went in to set up payees for my funding standing orders, there was already one set up. Saved me having to do it ;)

I've done a few switches in my time but never one as blatant as that. I'd imagine it could create problems later if they don't pay the incentive (for whatever reason, not necessarily because they think you're taking the mick!)

Shouldn't have come as a surprise, being as they say they'll do just that in the bumph...
