Charged for toiletries

Decency and honesty? get a grip! i dont take anything else from hotels apart from the complimentary toiletries that considering the price of the room i feel i am entitled to take home and finish them rather than them being thrown away! in this instance as the bottle were larger perhaps it was a mistake. But i still feel that being charged £10 is ridiculous really.0

You did have the option to return the items, you chose not to though you had been informed that they would levy a charge if you kept them.0 -

What makes you think that they would be thrown away after you had used them? It has already been said several times that it is completely obvious that 250ml bottles will be either used until empty or refilled not just binned after each use.
The cost of the room means nothing, whether it was a £10 a nite hostel or a £1000 a night room at the Ritz, unless you were told they were yours to take you have stolen them.
I don't stay in hotels very often but when I have the complimentary miniature toiletries have always been labelled as such and full sized ones have not been labelled as such.
Next time it may be worth you taking your own with you, that way there will be no confusion. I always take my own as the ones in hotels are not always the best and with very sensitive skin I have to be very careful what I use.0 -
was i supposed to make the 2 hour drive to drop them off or pay for p&p?:rotfl:
The postage would have been less than £10, so yes, that was a realistic option.
Perhaps if you had shown some manners, returned their phone call and apologised they would have waived the charge, instead you just ignored them.0 -
OP, you know really that you are in the wrong, chalk it up to having tried to pull a fast one, getting caught, and paying the price, learn from it and move on. You have been out manoeuvered by the owners!!0

I don't like the idea of any establishment reusing bottles of shampoo and shower gel, who knows what a previous guest may have done with it.0
