But consensus on this topic is most people agree OP was wrong to take the items and don't hold the B and B at fault. If they then go and tell 23 others, then those 23 may also agree with the majority here so no harm done to the B and B.
But this is MSE where most people always support the trader, not the real world.

    What if everybody did it

Its so simple when its not your business

I would still use the B and B given the OP nicked 500ml of toiletries

In the world where everybody did it, I'd either put out single use bottles or increase my room charges by a fair amount (NOT £10).

I'm guessing you probably also stole the toilet roll.....

If you had nicked it, a £10 charge like the OP might have been the least of your problems.
You might have ended up with LH turning up on your doorstep looking for the soap dispenser back.

    I'm getting a bit lost now :o

    - What does LH mean? (you should never abbreviate if you haven't previously advised people on what it means!)

    - I never said anything about nicking it, nor did I try! :p I just said that it was a good idea [to use such a dispenser] because it can probably hold up to 250ml (or more) and yet cannot be easily taken by the likes of OP!

Do people on here think that I was eyeing it up for stealing? :rotfl:

I think when you post a large photo of Lenny Henry on a post it should be pretty obvious what LH means ;)

The moral is use some common sense! And if you're not sure, ask before taking.

    Or just don't take.

    Hi
My partner and i recently stayed in a B&B for one night over the bank holiday and on departure decided to take the soap and shower gel that we had been using which was supplied by the B&B owners. A few hours later they left a message on my voicemail saying they wanted the toiletries returned or they would charge me. I ignored the message as i didnt think it would be possible for them to charge me without giving them my card details again. This week without my permission they have charged my card £10 which is 5 times the price that the products are available for on the brands own website. I am very unhappy about this as firstly toiletries are complimentary and second they did not have permission to take money from my account. What i want to know is who do i make a complaint to and are they entitled to charge me for toiletries?

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated

    Jon
I don't know the answer to the question in bold but I do think that to take 250ml bottles of toiletries from a B&B after a 1 night stay is out of order.

He is "the face" of Premier Inn in the UK.

  • I'd have expected that any toiletries left in the bathroom were "mine"..... if they want to sell them then they should be on a price list somewhere.

Did they charge you for the biscuits/coffee in the room? £1/sugar sachet used?

    I wouldn't have! You're doing what's called assuming. ;)
