Does anyone else still use soap instead of shower gel in the shower?

Cheap soaps dry skin out and shower gel is just chemical ridden and causes all sorts of issues with dry skin for me, especially the cheap ones full of SLS
I haven't been able to identify exactly which chemicals and synthetic fragrances in toiletries cause me to break out with contact dermatitis so I only use plant based products, despite the expense. I usually buy the Neals Yard fragrance free "create your own hair and body wash". My daughter has it "as is" and I add a few drops of Neals Yard essential oil to mine. At £6.50 a bottle it's less than half the price of their fragranced shower gel, though the essential oils can be pricey.0 -
Bar soap. Something in the liquid soaps and shower gels seems to bring out a tendency to eczema in our family so we end up itching.
Recently discovered L'Occitanne verbena soap (through freebies on MSE) and that has lovely lemony scent.0 -
Or is it just me?
I am getting a bathroom refurbished and I asked the sales person if the shower came with a soap dish. He said no because no-one uses soap in the shower any more.
But I do. I have never used shower gel.
I use bar soap. It's not true that no-one uses soap now.
I do have liquid soap on the sink for visitors, though.0 -
Being MSE soap would be cheaper & last a lot longer. Unfortunately it leaves the shower/bath all scummy, & for that reason I use shower gel & liquid soap. My elderly Mom still uses soap so I thought it was just an old person thing, but obviously not.0

We don't usually use soap but my mum gave us a couple of bars as well as the remains of one she brought last time she stayed over. She prefers soap.
However I will be going back to liquid hand soap as soon as possible as the soap gets soggy and I'm always rinsing the dish out.
I wouldn't use it in the shower either, I like a nice light lather. I find soap dries my skin out and makes it feel tight.0 -

Soap dishes are accessories, so just buy a soap dish for your plumber to install in the shower.0

No never. Still, we had a new shower in our home 2 years ago, and it has a soap dish. Some folk would still use soap, so the response from the salesman seems odd.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!0 -
I use soap by the sink and shower gel in the shower. From an environmental point of view soap is better because there is much less packaging - so less energy used in manufacture and less to throw away at the end.0

Liquid soap for hand-washing in the basin, bars of soap for the bath or shower. Mr LW has !mperial L£ather bars, and I have the hand-made soap bars I get from the farmers market, this being the only thing that doesn't irritate my skin.
We have a shower over the bath, and there's an integral soap dish on that.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
