Does anyone else still use soap instead of shower gel in the shower?

I only use gels or liquid soaps for 2 main reasons. Firstly I'm always disappointed once a nice looking soap gets wet a couple of times and gets mishapen and doesn't look as nice as when it first came out of the packaging. Especially the translucent soaps that go all cloudy. Secondly I dislike the residue the bar soap leaves in the soap dishes and side of the sink if I I don't have a dish. I don't like having to rinse soap dishes - the gel bottles don't leave any mess at all!0

we have both in the house.
Soap is messy but cheaper.
Shower gels have some lovely smells.:footie:0 -
I use soap for certain body parts and shower gel for overall body.
I love the Bomb Cosmetics fancy soaps and wash my face every day with this0 -
I only use soap, either l'occitane or Dr Bronners, anything else causes my eczema to flare up, including the liquid versions of these!0

Love the idea of soap but cant stand soap scum.... hence we use liquid handwash and shower gel. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks a lot of all your replies. Quite a few people have mentioned the problem of soap scum which I hadn't really thought about - I didn't realise that it would be much easier to keep the shower clean if I used shower gel. However, I much prefer using soap so I don't know if I will change.0

Liquid handwash at the basin and shower gel for my quick morning showers. About once/twice a week I've begun to indulge in a bath in the evening with a decent bar of soap and exfoliating mitts. That gets me squeaky clean but my word, the state of the bath tub afterwards
PS. My Dad is a stickler and won't budge from soap. I got him 7 bars of different luxury soaps for his 70th birthday and he was tickled pink.0 -

I find quite the opposite. Soap leaves me feeling like I have a fatty film over my skin and I feel most unclean. You just need to look at the residue it leaves all over the shower screen then imagine that on your skin. Yuk.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

We never have any residue on our bath or shower cubicle.0
