Does anyone else still use soap instead of shower gel in the shower?

  • I do; shower gels cause the skin to dry
  • Nearly all the showergels contain parabens and sodium laureth sulphate (for foaming) that dry and can also irritate skin. I think one of the tv med programmes with Dr Michael Mosely bore this out as well. So good quality soap with real oils gets my vote.

    Old joke remembered

Two nuns in the bath, one says to other 'where's the soap.
    Yes it does

Hubby uses soap but I use Dove shower gel and Dove handwash.
  • I get Hydromol (used to be called Epaderm) on prescription as I have eczema if I use soap. Hydromol looks like a tub of lard but is pleasant to use and unscented. Very moisturizing so although I am saggy I have very few wrinkles.

  • I use liquid bodywash and handwash as opposed to soap, i've never liked the texture?! Hubby doesn't mind either but in-laws only use soap! I remember when I stayed round their house for the first time and was baffled as they had no shower gel! Luckily, after all these years, they buy one especially for me now!
  • Organic soap - I have temperamental skin, so it needs to be very gentle.
