I never use gel or shampoo, just solid soap - even for what's left of my hair.
It's not mainly for household economy - it's also a green gesture - trying not to buy things in plastic containers (made from fossil fuels).
  • Solid soap for me !

And it's a bargain : I use Sainsbury's Basics bar of soap. Costs just 15p .. yes, fifteen pence only ! Lasts ages and does not readily go to gloop if left in a puddle of water either.

Why pay more (far more ..) and have to recycle plastics ? Think about it folks.
  • I use soap, tried shower gel, 90% gets washed away. much more control with soap, cheers
  • Tried gels but always have to step away from shower to ensure I get soaped up, as shower washes gel away - or is that just me....So I have reverted to soap, much easier. Also there are some health issues with some of the chemicals in liquid soaps and gels - look them up of you are interested, too many for me to regurgitate here!

I 100% agree with delboyginger on that
  • I use soap as it's cheaper, lasts longer and doesn't involve using plastic made from petrol! Even though most of the bottles can be recycled for liquid shower gel the pump usually can't so it just produces waste. I usually get it from Lush too which only uses paper packaging which can be recycled! :)
  • We too use Pears soap for the shower and face but liquid stuff for general handwash. We have found that Pears have changed the formula from the original as it feels different and goes to mush if not used quick enough (even though we have a wire stand so its not sitting in water all the time).

Also they have now put it in a plastic bag which I find almost impossible to open when in the shower and realise a new bar is needed.

I find bodywash doesn't leave me feeling clean. I prefer squeaky skin and moisturiser instead of moisturised bodywash.
  • What has happened to camay soap?
It disappeared a couple of years or so ago and I've always used camay and it's kept me young and beautiful, but now the cracks are starting to show.....😥
  • Soap is an essential in my bathroom especially, expensive soap that is creamy and has a beautiful perfume!

I have found it makes the perfect gift for a girl who is going travelling and "roughing it". The best quality soap put into a plastic container can be easily transported. No problem re liquids on airlines and at the end of a grubby day, to wash in perfumed soap can be heavenly, or so I am told.
  • I've used soap in the shower since I joined the Army in 1957.. I don't smell so it must be good.
You can use your shower soap for other things too, what do you do with (expensive) shower gel apart from pour it all over you and of course use more than you need.
Get real folks, the shower gel scam is almost (but not quite) bigger than the men's razors and gel scams!!!!!
