MSE News: TSB current account customer? You can now earn even more cashback

A contactless payment transaction made on 29.09.15 was paid for September, even though it showed up on my statement as 01.10.15. Looks like they count when the transaction is made, not when it appears on your statement - worth knowing aboutYep I asked TSB this question and they stated it was date of transaction not the one on statement that is used.
Not true. In my case a transaction from 30.09 with a statement date of 02.10 was not included. More likely it is the date the bank received the request for payment that counts.0 -
Who knows what TSB's motivation for launching the incentive is
I would hazard a guess that it's all in an effort to appeal to predominantly youthful customers who will help with TSB's strategic target to grow lending by 40% to 50% within 5 years from IPO. http://www.tsb.co.uk/investors/results-reports/2015-half-year-results.pdf
There's also the peer pressure / competition element - HSBC, Halifax, Santander, Lloyds, RBSG all have some sort of monthly offer for customers. I suppose it's almost a given these days that you have to offer some sort of a monthly deal if you want to call yourself competitive and different.0 -
When using another card recently, I saw a prompt on the card machine which included the Contactless logo, so I tapped the card, then got a message saying a member of staff would need me to sign for it. That was when I noticed the amount was over £30.
If this had been my TSB debit card, would it still have counted as a Contactless payment for cashback purposes? Further, does it mean I could buy a single £100 Waitrose gift card each month and be done with it?0 -

Contactless is £30 or under, but nothing to stop you from buying 4 x £25 cards and then using the cards to buy your shopping.

Thanks for that info.
Unfortunately (for me), Amazon doesn't appear to be one of Morrison's Fuel Saver gift card partners.0 -
I'm usually on top of moneysaving but due to family events havent been on the forum much last month .....
We got in on the last day of being able to get two joint accounts as well as the two each sole accounts we already had - six in total....
Now, where the hell are those debit cards......!!!!!0 -

£28 went to pay and contactless declined and told we only do up to £20. Wonder why when the limit was changed to £30? Seems a scrappy roll out of contactless limits and retailers overall so TSB is perhaps premature in this scheme with such a seemingly high refusal rate for different reasons.
Strangely, Morrisons in store accepts £30 contactless, but the filling station at the same store (Morley) accepts only £20.
Cashier said "machine not yet updated"
Not TSB's fault.0 -

It doesn't appear so on their website, but it is in reality.
I bought a £25 Amazon gift card and received a fuel voucher.0
