So what are they planning to do inm the meantime?
Pay 5% cashback on every debit card transaction under £30 (up to the monthly limit)?
I'm pretty sure TSB will know that a transaction is contactless. They just aren't showing whether the transaction is contactless in online banking.

Yep that's what TSB said when I spoke to them.

How do you know its CNP over contactless? mine just shows as DEB. so no distinguish over CNP or contactless, other then my recording of transactions.

It doesn't on your statement but does while they are in 'pending transactions'.

My flipping TSB card has been rejected at 2 supermarkets- it asked for PIN but worked perfectly every time at Wilco's so I am wondering if it is their machine! Have used contactless with my credit card before and never had a problem. Can't see I will get anywhere near £100 as there seem to be very few contactless outlets near me. Have reached my £300 limit with Clarity (for the £5 cashback) so now to Tesco CC- where the rewards are diminishing!

There is a point, if the use of a PIN resets the card for the next contactless use.
Many people on this thread have suggested that a PIN may be requested occasionally to prove you own the card.
    But there's uncertainty on this.

Since the cashback started I had 9 contactless payments at 4 different retailers go through fine. I didn't use chip & PIN nor withdraw cash since I did my first contactless payment. Then a few of days ago I tried my 10th transaction at a 5th different retailer and the machine said 'insert card' for the first time. Instead I used my credit card (which has cashback).

Yesterday I went to one of the 4 retailers where contactless worked previously (in fact I used one of the same terminals as before) but it also said 'insert card'. I then determined that contactless wouldn't work again until I used chip & PIN so I did so. About an hour later I attempted contactless at one of the other 4 retailers and it worked. It looks like we will have to enter in our PIN every now and again. I presume if I withdrew cash instead it would have worked again too.

Although I'm still not sure if the PIN 'reset' is required periodically, after a certain number of transactions or new retailers, or just randomly.

    Interesting. Thanks.

I wonder if simply checking the balance (rather than withdrawing cash) could work too?

Will try it this weekend and report back.

No, as I reported about three weeks ago. It seems to need a tenner withdrawing (maybe a fiver would do it but there aren't many (any?) machines the dispense them).

But very few of my contactless transactions actually appear in pending

Just checking the balance worked for me on both my old cards. Have recently received the two replacement ones I requested from TSB and have managed 6 contactless transactions in a row with no chip and pin required as yet (just for one card as not tried other yet)....beats my record of 3 with the old cards! Not convinced it will last though as don't think was a problem with the cards,

Tesco doesn't do contactless and most of my other purchases are online but I finally had an opportunity to use my TSB contactless card the other day. I've become used to using my credit card to buy everything but I suppose it might actually be better to use the TSB contactless card (up to the £100 limit obviously) - 5% cashback is better than earning 3% AER for however long is left on my 0% rate.
