The card that failed in Boots yesterday worked for a £21.99 spend in a local store today ;)

Does anyone know roughly how long it takes TSB to issue a replacement card?

For reasons I won't go into right now, my debit cards are about 6,000 miles away.. and I was thinking of asking for a replacement for at least 1 of my TSB accounts so I could take advantage of this offer.. (otherwise I wouldn't have used the cards at all and would have used a contactless cc)

    Cheers
    Sunil
  • Am one of these.

The three cards (and PINs) wont be making it out of the house for the moment for this offer.

When my local Tesco Extra (Stockport) told me they don't accept contactless, and after reading some of the posts in this thread, I was nearly doing the same. However, I decided to give Waitrose (Poynton) a whirl and, in spite of the Visa website:

    https://www.visa.co.uk/products/visa-contactless/where-to-use-it/

not showing any of the Waitrose stores in the area, it worked first time.

What's more, I got 20% discount on 'Pick your own offers' and a free cappuccino :-) Looks like I'll be shopping there a bit more often.

That's a different type of contactless!

So far I've successfully used my TSB contactless 3 out of 3 times after activating it by withdrawing £10 cash & changing the PIN last week:)

    1)Aldi £15.58

    2)M&S £9.00

3)M&S Outlet, for what I thought was going to be £18.99 for a £35 pair of Per Una chinos :o. The guy on the till said 'You've got yourself a bargain there', to which my reaction was lukewarm:cool: until he rang up the corrected price of £4.99.

I was torn between elation at the bargain, and annoyance at the reduced cashback :rotfl::rotfl:

I paid £28 in Boots by contactless last week on my TSB with only a small hiccup (the first card said unsuccessful, the second worked first time).

However today, both cards came back as Contactless Unsuccessful for a £22 Boots spend...

I rang TSB to query, especially after reading of the issues here. Apparently, the problem is that I'm keeping my cards either too close to my phone, or they are being damaged by being in my purse with other contactless cards.

Now, my TSB cards have been in my purse around 2 weeks since the cashback started. I have had other contactless cards for about 4 years now (there are a grand total of around 5 contactless cards in the same purse, and that has been the case for years). I've not once had an issue with any of these in all that time.

I asked if it was a problem with TSB cards only, the lady advised that it was all contactless cards that would be affected by being together, similar to a hotel room key.

Now, I for one am not convinced this is the case, but I will continue on in my TSB contactless quest nonetheless.
I find this all hard to believe. Was she getting confused with card clash?

Boots have gone contactless but it failed this morning with a £28 purchase, the manager said they have had a communication that they are changing to £30 but has never seen a >£20 transaction work yet. It came up as payment failed on her screen and I put my MBNA card in for 0.5% instead :(
The £28 transaction that I did with my MBNA via C&P in Boots is not showing as pending so I wonder if they were off line for some reason which is why contactless failed.
  • I have two of them. They both worked first time. One failed at the third use, the other still works after four goes.

All transactions under £10 in the same Lidl. There doesn't seem to be a reason or pattern to it.(It's not card clash though, that's nonsense).

They seem to be offline because it always takes 3 or 4 days to come out of my accounts.
  • I realise that this is probably a really stupid question and I apologise if it's been answered, but I couldn't find it:

Are you supposed to activate the TSB contactless card?

I tried both of mine the other day, neither would work. I assumed I need to activate it but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.

You need to make a chip and pin transaction first before contactless is enabled.
