I have had several failures and have never asked to have the transaction cancelled but just stick another card in - no problems at all.

But unfortunately getting an account balance via an ATM doesn't work. I ended up taking £10 cash out to reset it.

I think i have totally given up with TSB contactless.I have numerous accounts and it is totally hit and miss.I would say one in three transactions require a pin.If the amount is over £10 i ask the cashier to cancel the transaction and then try another TSB contactless card. I am at a point that i will give up with the promotion. I have phoned customer services and got nowhere as they say the retailers terminal checks the card.Totally useless promotion. As anybody else had the same problems.

I felt like you two weeks ago with same failure rate. TSB advised get a replacement card which I ordered online. Activated by buying an Nikon for 12p chip and pin and since then used about ten times without a refusal for contactless. Don't expect my newfound luck to last though!

    Numerous accounts!?

That's not been my experience. A change of PIN at an ATM was not sufficient to activate my card. A small PIN verified purchase did the trick. Failed contactless transaction, small PIN verified purchase, and subsequent attempt at contactless were all performed at the same terminal.

There was a card slot in the contactless terminal I last used.

Where can you buy a Nikon for 12p?
  • I've used Tsb contactless at one store where it works like a shot every time. At three other retailers I might as well wave a cream cracker at the terminal.
V annoying, this is 2015, we're meant to be on hoover boards by now.

Yes but it doesn't work well for contactless if the slot is used thus defeating the object of the exercise, to get CB.
