    - PIN usage on online banking card reader (this would be really good if it worked)
As it happened, before I changed my PIN at a cashpoint, I used a card reader at home to make sure I had the original PIN right, so I don't think that will work. I don't think the card itself will control when a PIN is requested for contactless, so a completely offline chip & PIN transaction like card-reader verification is unlikely to make any difference. An offline purchase, in which the PIN is verified offline, but the transaction details are later uploaded, may count.
  • You need to go online to reset the counter i believe.

If your chip and pin transaction is under the floor limit then this might not be sufficient?

I have 2 Classic Plus accounts yet only just noticed I have one contactless card and one non contactless card (Customer of over a year, so they should know my financial habits)

I spoke to TSB over the telephone who said it wouldn't be a problem to sort out the other account to be contactless - she would just need to get the branch to do it. She did that whilst I was on the phone - except the branch out-right refused to issue a contactless card for my 2nd account citing:

"You are a student and are therefore an overdraft risk and this is exacerbated with a contactless card"

There was no point arguing with the person on the phone as she was just relaying the message, and there was nothing she could do to override their decision - but she had only put me on hold for max 2 minutes so they barely looked at my accounts in branch.

Considering I don't have an overdraft with TSB, I have never been overdrawn with anyone, I have had 2 TSB accounts slightly over max-earning interest since the accounts opened over a year ago, I have a part time job, I have data on my credit report (unlike some students whom are just opening their first accounts) I feel this is rather stereotyping students in one group.

So much for the 5% offer of cashback on up to £100 on all accounts :(
They said a customer services complaints person would phone me back at least but I always feel like anybody is out to get you because you are one of 'those students' and either a) you are gullible (e.g. landlords trying to keep your deposit) or b) you can't be responsible with money.

Had to verify my pin once when I first made a purchase with the card (i made sure it was a cheap item!), since then I've been using the contactless card fine, I do about 2 or 3 transactions a day! a nice little bonus for my usual daily spend!

Logged in to TSB online account today, 30th September. Got this greeting message:

    "Classic Plus contactless cashback

If you've been using a Classic Plus contactless card to earn cashback in September, we'll pay it into your account by the end of October.
5% cashback is available on the first £100 you spend on qualifying purchases each calendar month
Continue earning cashback every month until the end of December 2016
Cashback on your qualifying purchases will be paid by the end of the following calendar month."

So it looks like the window is by calendar month, not account statement date. Only spent about £70 this month, drat.

Had a failure to pay by Contactless yesterday, after about four successful Contactless payments over two weeks at the same Waitrose.

Used the TSB Contactless all day on TFL, for buses and tube rides, when I had a perfectly good Oyster Card. It worked every time.

Have asked this on another thread but I assume that the rate you get charged is the same when paying by Oyster and the contactless card?

If so it'll mean I may return my Oyster card.

    Yes, it's exactly the same
If anything the contactless card is better than the Oyster card as you could benefit from weekly capping

    Many thanks for the confirmation.

Weekly capping wont affect me as am an infrequent visitor to London.
