Apparently you need to use the dispenser first, but only need to get a printed balance. I haven't tried this yet though so can't confirm.
I'll see how many 'goes' I get this time before it needs reactivating. If it's not more than three (which is looking like the norm) I'm not sure I can be bothered with all the hassle.0 -
OK. So I made a contactless payment on 30 Sep. For once, it did show up in the 'Pending' section dated 30 Sep.
It has now appeared on my statement dated 1 Oct. Any thoughts as to which month's £100 limit it will form part of?
From their website:
If you've been using a Classic Plus contactless card to earn cashback in September, we'll pay it into your account by the end of October.0 -
That's nonsense, the standard way is via a C&P payment. But I did try resetting it, after a failure, by getting a screen balance and that didn't work, so I doubt a printed balance would be any better. I'll try it next time just in case, if only to avoid making a 'cashback-less' payment by C&P.
Also very clearly nonsense.
Ha, ha, ha.... I'm easily placated! I swallowed her explanation totally.

Our local BP garage has a 'cheap fuel' (as if it ever is!) day today with petrol at 103.9p per litre. Unfortunately my contactless card didn't work (I wonder if I put it up too early, as it worked there the other day and worked in Iceland a little later), but I still got the fuel cheap and managed to use my wife's Nectar card (a little odd, as the shop there is Spar and I thought Nectar was for Sainsbury's, etc.). I still did well, therefore, just not as well as I would have liked!'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).
Sky? Believe in better.
Note: win, draw or lose (not 'loose' - opposite of tight!)0 -
Like I did last month, I bought 8 x £25 vouchers at Waitrose today, to make £100 on each card. All paid for with my two contactless cards that I had not used since I bought last month's vouchers. No problems at all.0

Efficient yes, but where's the excitement in that?Do you/will you spend that much in John Lewis/Waitrose then or are you saving the vouchers for a larger purchase in the future?
I like to mix mine up with a (current) mixture of Aldi, BP, Iceland, J D Wetherspoon, Poundland (new one near where I live does take contactless, but an old one in Reading does not!) and Waitrose.
I've kept a spreadsheet of the running totals for my wife and I and we are very different: her biggest contactless spend is Waitrose and mine is Aldi (mainly ales at £1.25 a bottle)!'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).

I have done the same with the gift vouchers, although I do spend most of the £100 money on fuel. Not that its been as consistent as I would hope.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. I managed the princely sum of £3.90, less my husband's £2 prepay voucher for the Independent at the Co-op today.
