Apologies if this question has already been asked but can anyone tell me if the card has to be presented to the machine in a specific way?

Reason I ask is because I used my card for the first time yesterday in Morrisons store on groceries and it accept the card really easily. Today at Morrisons petrol station the machine would have none of it!! So ended up paying cash!

May be they haven't yet enabled the terminal at the petrol station for contactless, may be it was broken, may be the till operator needed to allow contactless and forgot to do so.

I don't know what the Costco prices are like - but would you end up paying more in your quest to chase the £5 cashback?

Costco is a quantum leap cheaper than Waitrose, not to mention the 2% Executive member cashback, and the 1.25% Amex cashback.

An extreme example is Walkers crisps.
    50p a packet in Waitrose, a single.
About 12p a packet if I buy a Variety case of 40 from Costco.

Obviously I perform my spending to maximise value where possible, but it really is Mission Impossible right now to spend £100 Contactlessly a month.

I even went to see a movie in the hope of using the TSB card Contactlessly. Mission FAILED.

Stand in the Basket Only line and offer to pay for people?

Seriously? You only went to see a film so that you could get 5% off?

What was the film 'Mission Impossible V'?

You could buy a Cineworld gift card at Morrisons and pay by contactless.

That is actually a good idea, but the local Cineworld has not seen a cent of new investment for about 10 years, and it smells.

The Martian. Major mis-calculation, as I could have used the extended Super Tuesday offer on 30th September, but I missed it by a day.

OK, I was going to see it any way, but using the various cashback deals is never far from my mind.

My wife made a contactless payment using her TSB card in Waitrose on 24 September and it still hasn't gone through the account. Has anyone else had experience of that level of delay? Most of the time it seems to take five days or so, but this is double that! I also suppose it won't now count towards the £100 spend for September, even though the transaction was still easily into that month?

I bought a Waitrose Gift Card for my own use yesterday loaded up with £30 and paid contactless and it appeared in my TSB account today.

I followed colstens plan to buy a Waitrose GC for myself now I use that in store without risking refusals using my TSB card:)
