Its better than being mistaken for your childs Grandma!. I used to get told I looked young for me age now over 40 it would be lovely!

When my oldest was 16 I had her little sister. We were walking along and she took over pushing as I wanted something from my handbag. This young girl came over and started talking about the young mums group she helps run. I said these are my daughters but she was not listening or was a bit dim. She was in full flow and nothing was going to stop her inviting eldest to next session. I admire her enthusiasm but I had to be quite firm and say this is my baby. My eldest won't be seen out with her little sister on her own as people might assume she is hers.

It was funny but embarrassing at the same time. I nearly got my eldest a I'm the big sister t-shirt.

It's easy to tell OP not to care what other people think, but it's much harder to do in real life. Particularly when you're a new mum, shattered, low self-esteem and a new identity as a mother to figure out. How other people see you and treat you has an effect on identity, and verbal abuse or disapproval in the street is shameful as it would be in a playground. I can shrug off negative comments now, but not that long ago those comments had me full of self-doubt.
I didn't think the OP was a new Mum, I thought her daughter was going into secondary school.

I saw her too (on This Morning).

TBH, I cringed in embarassment for her when they took her oustide.
    She was just simply deluded.

I might faint at her feet, to be honest. But that would be because I would think I was meeting Alice Cooper.

  • Oh boohoo poor slim petite gorgeous you with all these nasty people so fascinated by your life. Sorry .. But honestly!!!
  • i think the point that I was raising was that it seemed so offensive to you to even be thought of as a teen mum - i dont think i am the only teen mum on the site - just because it wasnt what you would do doesnt mean it is something that deserves to be look down on by you - i would never have kids in my 30s/40s that doesnt mean that i think negatively of people who do

She did not say anything negative about teen mums. Stop being nasty.
