He can take some. But I have a shop open 5 days a week for 6 hours a day that isn't currently paying me a living. So its how to pay for that child care.

Ha no. I haven't seen her since early 2014. For about an hour. She is a very strange one. Anyway I'm not going to go there!

I'm glad for you and your inheritance. My dad, who I was also estranged from died in 2011. The money he left me went to start my business. So I'm all about good things from bad circumstances. I hope you will spend it on something meaningful to you.

Ha how meaningful is buying myself an additional 6 months off work? :rotfl: That's what I'm going to do with the money I get tomorrow :T I will still look for work, but I really need to decide what I want to do which is causing me some difficulty at the moment :o If I actually put some effort into finding a job I reckon I could be in a job within 6 weeks in my field. But I feel like I've run my course in this field but not sure what I want to do instead.

Actually oh & I have a business venture idea. I've had it for several years and the gap is still in the market in my home town. We need to put the business plan together and if it all comes together then we will commission someone to put in multiple grant applications to fund the majority of the venture. There's a lot of grants available in manufacturing and my oh is a cosmestic scientist (sounds grander and better paid than it actually is! :rotfl:). Don't what is holding us back really as will cost us nothing except time to get to the point of whether we can raise the grants as the consultant who writes the applications does it on a commission basis and will only take on the work if he thinks the business plan is worth the punt.

The probate issue is complication - what isn't in my life?! - because we have now drawn a blank with the ombudsman as they have said they won't take the complaint with the bank any further until we have the grant of probate. Need the bank details to apply for probate! But my db (darling brother ;)) contacted the probate office and they have said it is likely there is in excess of a sizable sum in there (nothing life changing I add) and to put the forms in and say we estimate there to be in excess of XXXXX in there. So that's the next step.

If this comes through then I will put some aside for dd & ds and buy tickets for the 3 of us (oh, dgd & I) to go to Brasil :j

I think I am developing a holiday habit! :rotfl:

I think it is always harder to decide what to do, than go with the flow. Its funny actually I was having that very discussion with a young girl today in my place. She was saying all this about how impressive what I'd done was. I suppose it was really. I think if you have an appetite for risk, which I have always done, you will go for it.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. But who would want to be old sitting there thinking, if only?

6 more months at home with your lovely dgd is meaningful. If you were just doing nothing than no it wouldnt be, but you are raising a child. Thats worthwhile.

Sorry the probate is all a bit complex. I hope it will come good soon.

  • Well as Bob says - something good can now come out of a difficult time. I think 6 months of time with dgd is an absolute bargain for £2k. Regret is a strange thing, but there's nothing can be done now. My MIL died of a brain tumour, and when we got the call to say he needed to get there - he refused. He now admits he thought that if he didn't go then it wouldn't happen and I know he has a lot of regrets.
  • Morning :D Have woken up in a great mood :j Went to a friend's birthday bash and she had hired folky musicians to play (she way rocks!) and I heard 2 acts I hadn't before so that enriched my life

Cost of evening £6 for entry ticket and was bought a drink. Tried to buy my friend a drink but she had several at the bar so declined. Must send her a thank you card.

Today we pulled out the washing machine to see if changing the plug into another socket made any difference & it did! :j So now need to work out what is with that socket. We have isolators above the worktop with fuses for each plug so I imagine the fuse has gone :T

Today I have a dgd day so just pottering around now before we go and get dressed and begin our day :D

I have 10p until I reach payout on onepoll & so far in Sept I have made £330. Seems to be the universe is looking after me. And I am officially downing tools for the month :j I will still list some bits on fleabay but anything I make now I will set aside for Ibiza & November's income. I have used £65 to buy a ferry ticket for me and dgd so we can go and visit my friend in Holland in November - heck life is for living eh? :p

So feeling like the richest person in the world today

  • Have decided re the job I'm just going to let the universe decide. I am thinking now the reason they haven't let me know is the person they have offered to is thinking about it. If they offer I'll take it, if they don't it wasn't meant to be
