Rang Sky and was on with them for half an hour. Basically they have been charging us £22.50 a month for 4 years whilst new customers are paying only £21.50. First unhappy.
Then new customers get LG TV and if use topcashback £110 cashback. Brought this up to them. Nope, no can do.
Third unhappy, our Sky+ HD box is so old it don't even come with wifi. Idiots wanted to charge 268 for new one!
Finally, tried to see if can get better deal if switch broadband and landline to them. Nope, half @$$ lame half price for 6 months.
In the end only offered £10 sky subscription for 12 months, must pay £268 for box, crappy land and broadband rental.
Most probably will ask them to shove it. Any suggestions? The friendly lady my partner spoke to is just hopelessly unhelpful at all :mad::mad:
When my discounts ran out last year my old Sky+ box was on its last legs, failed recordings etc. So I cancelled my Original plus Sports package - I got an offer of 50% off fairly quickly but left it until just before the TV was due to go off.
I then negotiated via chat - got a new HD box, 60% discount plus £100 bill credit in return for upgrading to Family & Sports plus HD pack .
It meant that the effective cost per month was much the same as the previous year -but I had a new box and Sports and other channels in HD:T
I'd cancel -might not be too easy to negotiate a new box if you only want the Original bundle tho'0 -
I've just cancelled via live chat.
We've been paying £45.56 per month as our discount ended, been out of contract for ages now anyway. Best they could do was 20% off for 5 years, with a new 12 month contract but this still makes it £40 a month for original bundle and sky sports. Only had 15% off in My Sky offers.
Due to be disconnected on 18th September - will be happy to roll with this until we get a better offer, and if nothing is received we'll just go without.

I believe it is correct, and you will have to pay a £30 cease charge as well. If you no longer want broadband/phone line then you can go ahead and cancel. However, if you are just moving to another provider (except Virgin) then all you need to do is place an order with them and they will sort it all out for you and contact Sky on your behalf.
I wasn't sure if it was a ploy by Sky as they will know that Virgin is not in my area. I have been getting free unlimited broadband from them for years and now they want to charge me £7.50 a month for it. If they were to offer this free again for 12 month I would stay but never got the broadband offer0 -
Called Sky as fed up with poor WiFi on SR102 and said I was to cancel.
Got 50% off Fibre unlimited (12 months), 35% off TV inc movies (12 months) and a free Sky Q hub.
Not overly impressed with WiFi on Sky Q hub if I am honest but still, I am paying less.0 -

You will then get sky retentions team involved, who can offer you deals. You will probably find they will give you 50% off your TV costs and give you a free box. I tried this a few months ago to get a free new box.
If you are in contract, I doubt you will get a new box.
HTHs.
That is what is !!!!ing me off! We have been out of contract for 4 years and they have overcharged us £2 a month for 4 years. The idiot only wants to offer £10 per month for 12 months for basic bundle, make us pay for new Sky+ HD with wifi box AND even when we are throwing them business with broadband and landline, no!!!! !!!! deal from their website.
They are due to ring back this Sat and will tell her to shove it up her @$$0 -

Ok you are out of contract. Contact Sky and give them 30 days notice to terminate your TV package. Make sure you speak to the Sky retentions team when you give your 30 days notice. You will THEN start to get offers such as 50% off TV. Try using Sky Chat after you have given your 30 days notice. With luck you will chat with someone in India, who tend to give the best offers to persuade you to stay.0 -

For b/band, phone and line rental, try contacting Talk Talk to see what deals they will offer you. You will probably find they will offer you a price better than Sky. Then talk to Sky to advise them that you intend to move to Talk Talk unless they can match their offer.
I tried this tactic a few days ago and I am now paying Sky £9.99 per month for unlimited b/band, unlimited phone and line rental. I will be honest that this was an exceptional deal so please do not be surprised if Sky don't offer you this.0 -
5KYMOVE (50% off) worked for me last althou im a new customer0

However I got a cheap Now TV box a few months ago and have rung up to cancel Sky TV completely as we just don't use it enough. We have Amazon Prime + Netflix and our TV can record shows on Freeview (only 1 tuner though which is a pain at times)
I was offered 1/2 price broadband for another 12 months and keep my 50% TV discount running but the retentions person said that if I did agree to this but decided to cancel Sky TV in a few months time the broadband would increase.
Got a call from Sky this morning offering me free broadband for 12 months. No discount on line rental or the £8 Sky Talk Anytime Extra but he also gave me 12 months of recording functions on the Sky+ box which is usually £10 a month. Saves me buying a Freeview recorder for the next year.
It seems as though they want people to keep their Sky boxes in the hope they will be more tempted to come back to them.
So new 12 month contract is 17.40 line rental + 8.00 talk package + free broadband + SkyPlus recording features = £25.40 a month.0 -

They have not overcharged you. Sky offered a service for £x per month and you accepted. This is the amount you have been paying. It is up to you to negotiate a better deal if you want to.0
