We have been with SKY for over 25 years and each year like everything you have to haggle to get a better renewal prices. Our contract is due to end 28th March which we were on a reduced rate of £53 /month it would default to £85 after the 28th March. When I called today Sky I did manage to haggle £56 which included the SKY increase that will happen in April however I was shocked as when they read out the terms and conditions of the renewal they added a one off £10 admin fee! Which the SKY rep said was due to it being a new contract.
I tried to argue that it was not a new contract that I have been with them for many years and never had to pay £10 admin for staying with them but they would not do anything about this just said it was part of their terms and conditions.
Note: I looked for this in their terms and conditions and could not find it anywhere. The only time you know about the £10 additional one off admin fee is when the SKY rep tells you over the phone.
I think this is really bad of SKY especially for renewing an existing contract.
I know I should have not renewed with SKY out of principle but I did go ahead with renewing at the reduced price. Just not happy about the additional sneaky £10 admin fee.

I have spoken to Sky a few times in the last 2/3 weeks. Both times got nothing. Currently paying £28 for entertainment and complete sports. The best they can do is £43 (that’s not with sky q) so will wait and see if they come back with anything as they have processed the cancellation now.He said that if I had BB I could get a better deal, didn’t take too kindly to that. After 17 years and no need to previously have BB to get a deal I shouldn’t need to now.Good luck people!1

I signed up with Sky a few weeks ago, after giving up on Virgin ever carrying out the work apparently required to get a line to my flat (fibre down the street, but some issues with the ducts to me!) - also found Virgins customer services to be astonishingly bad the whole way through. Signed up for a deal at £66 per month to include superfast broadband, entertainment, Sky Sports and HD. Shortly after, got the news of both the BT Sports tie up, and the price increase (£3 for me, before my services had even started!). I managed to get BT Sports added for a further £13 after calling (always wanted it, but it was extortionate when you had to go through BT).
Then turned my attention to the price, I rang them up and mentioned I was still in my cooling off period, and that I’d noticed Virgin have an offer on at £65 p/m for fast broadband and all the sport in HD, as well as £125 bill credit. I got Sky down to £68 p/m (from £81 after the price rise), and - after the advisor checked with his manager - £100 bill credit. I settled at that point - thought it was a reasonable deal especially as Virgin probably isn’t a realistic option for me - but I got the impression I could’ve made one more push for a bit more discount or bill credit.1 -

My son is looking to get Sky package ( as new customer ) with entertainment pack @ £25 a month. I can do "Introduce a friend" & get £100 each Pre loaded mastercard -- has anyone done this & actually got a Card ? Does anyone think he can push for more ( Cinema possibly or Sports for free or little cost ) in view of current situation ?
Sky are obviously extremely busy as even website puts you on hold !!0 -

I cancelled my Sky contract for TV + Cinema last week, as they could only reduce my monthly bill from £72 to £65 (including phone and basic broadband) approaching the end of my 18 month contract. I was advised by Sky to maintain the phone and broadband for the time being. Within around 3 days I received an email with a revised quote of £51 to include an upgrade to fibre broadband. I tried to get the deal applied to my account but the agent said they couldn't find any record of the emailed offer being sent to me, so couldn't provide that price. Annoying, but I accepted their offer of £55 instead. Still a big saving of £17 per month, £204 per year. Very strange about the original email offer not being able to be validated though. Hmm.0
