  • Just re-contracted for 18 months, Entertainment for £13.60 with the upcoming rise included, I've got an HD offer until October which is £2 until then and then £6 but it's a rolling monthly so I've got options, and I'm on the £3 UoD offer until January which is also rolling monthly so I'll sort something else then. I swapped from NowTV BB which is coming to an end to Sky Super Fast plus evening and weekend calls for £27. No set up or admin fees included and NowTV have already sent an email confirming no ETC fees but Sky said they'd cover up to £100 anyway.

You have achieved a much better deal than others have recently - how did you contact them please?

By phone, first thing at 8:45 this morning. I did try Live chat yesterday but one of the call centres had technical problems which seemed to cause issues. I also re-contracted for Sky mobile at £4.50 a month for 2GB with UL minutes and texts last week over the phone. Both calls were as quick and simple as you could hope for and I didn't bother haggling with either excepting that for the TV I told them straight off before they mentioned it that I wouldn't be paying any admin fees, she quickly agreed. Slightly annoyed that when I checked future bills they were going to charge me a £10 admin fee and £10 for BB activation but a quick Live chat this afternoon got a £20 credit applied.

Not on your £300 50" budget TV...
I've managed to upgrade the tv slightly to a Samsung 50inch. Football looks a bit better, but I'm going to see if BT will let me vuew a game in UHD to see if its worth it.
With regards to upgrading to a Sky Q box, will that improve anything visual wise compared to a Sky + box , or only if you pay for UHD?    Cheers.

You'll only get 4K transmissions if you pay for them.
How do you suppose BT is going to arrange a "demo" of their 4K content?

So with the new rises my bill has gone from £52.50 a month to £62.50 so a rise just under 10%.  Call Sky Priorty customer line as been with them for 20 years.  They basically said they needed the rise to pay for "engineers" and "entertainment".  I then asked if said engineers had had a 10 % raise?  She said no.  She also added that they can raise prices up to 10 % a year!
So I have had it.  I have BB, Phone, Unlimited calls, Netflix and Entertainment with multiroom Sky Q.  I can get BB and phone and unlimited calls with free Apple TV+ for half the new cost and if I want Sky I can add Now for £8.99

I rang BT three times yday. All 3 had no idea what the BT App on a Samsung Tv does. One said he would call me back ...he didn't. One said only Sky can get me UHD on BT ( they cant ). I tried the BT App on my TV , it was like watching a stream on dial up broadband.  So tried to speak to Sky today to just get some idea about wgat they could give me....their India based team hung up on me once and couldnt understand each other the next time. And i thought it was just cancellations who got treated like that : -)
  • Hello,
Just got off Facebook chat with Sky as I am shortly at the end of my current deal. After about two hours of toing and froing, this is the best I could get:

    - £17 Entertainment (full price £29, 18 month term)
    - £1 Box Sets (full price £5)
    - £1 Kids (full price £5)
    - £2 HD (full price £6)
    - £17 Complete Sports in HD (full price £30, 18 month term)
    - £11 Cinema (full price £19, offer with sports)
    - £27 Superfast Broadband including line rental (full price £32, 18 month term)
    - Pay As You Talk package – 18 month term
    - FREE Sky Go Extra (with Sky VIP membership)

Bringing the total to £76 per month for 18 months with the Entertainment, Complete Sports in HD and Superfast Broadband in an 18 month contract. I asked for the one-off £20 admin fee to be taken off, which they agreed.
"Full price" for all this is £131 per month. It's tricky to compare with the deal I'm on as they are doing away with the Unlimited Broadband and trying to move everyone over to Superfast Broadband (and Sky Q - £10 for the box, which I declined as I like the old box). When I asked for an Unlimited Broadband deal, they said it was now either Broadband Essential (meh) or Superfast. For info, I had Unlimited Broadband for £2 on my old deal.

I told them I needed to think about it. I think they can do better and Virgin Media might be an option.

Two months away from contract expiry but new price rise was an excuse! Was on £47 for Sky entertainment, sky sports plus cinema. They honoured a new customer deal for BT sport so now £56 for sky TV as above plus BT sports. Broadband and mobile sourced from elsewhere.

Forgot to mention I have had sky q for a few years now.

I am going to attempt to haggle with Sky tonight. Currently we have the HD box sets package and unlimited fibre broadband. With the price rise we will be paying £86 for all. We can't switch to virgin as no cable in the area. Broadband is required for husbands job (he works from home). Have no intention of moving to BT as have had shocking service in the past.

If I 'cancel' the TV package - where would I see and of the offers? Anyone got any advice on what we should be paying roughly?
I normally haggle but never actually cancel to get the best offers!

    Thanks
