Just got my bill today after I was given my pac code under the contract changing terms, but they have billed £300 me for terminating my contract  . any1 else been charged this?
My number ported over to T-Mobile yesterday. I tried to access my carphonewarehouse online bill last night and they have disabled it. I had it in writing that I could cancel without penalty, but still I don't trust them. I'll await to see if anything arrived in the post from them.Hark at you going all strict0 -

I sent an email through my account on CPW/O2 to cancel but as it is close to the 30 days since I received the text I have just called aswell and was told I can cancel without any penalty and will get a text with my PAC in the next 7 days.
A quick question to those who were on a deal where the cashback was paid upfront... have any of you cancelled and also received the credit from the cashback? I queried this with the person I spoke to who advised I how much credit I have but that I wouldn't receive it as it wasn't money I paid in the first place. I asked if it states this anywhere in the T&C's, they are going to check and get back to me.
As far as I am concerned though, it is no different to someone upgrading and receiving a brand new handset. They are not asked to send it back when they cancel... any thoughts?mobilejunkie wrote: »I negotiated the balance and would have got a cheque to make it free overall, but for other reasons I maintained my contract.
mobile junkie, what did you say to them? at the moment they are not budging and say the cost was to cover the line rental and since I am cancelling then they won't pay it. no mention of the fact the contract is being ended because they broke the T&C's. They put a credit on my account and are now trying to go back on it.0 -
After getting stonewalled completely by the normal first contact I asked to be put through to either Terminations or the team dealing with this (can't remember precisely which). Since I used that particular contract almost entirely for 08 numbers and had used most of my minutes up each month they then accepted it was a major change and I could cancel. I then pointed out that my net cost if I did would be about £20-30 (allowing for the cashbacks I'd already received) and they agreed to send me a cheque for the balance, all without the need to write in. However, that was about 6 weeks ago, everyone's useage is different, it depends who you get through to and what day of the week it is (plus your negotiating skills, of course!).0

Just found out about the O2 discontinuation of the 0845/70 numbers and am a bit concerned (OK, very worried!!!)............
Basically Hubby is changing jobs on 2nd November from field based to 2nd line support, part of which means he is no longer entitled to a company mobile phone. This in itself is no problem, until he pointed out that in order to contact him, I would either have to call through the Company main switchboard (0845....) or through his direct extension, which is VOIP on 0870.
I have just spoken to O2 and because I generally didn't need to call 08 numbers, apparently we were not informed of the changing rules. Surely they can't make a change like this without telling me?
As things stood, I got an upgrade to the K810 keeping our existing contract of £35 which included something like 750 mins and 750 texts. This was originally taken out 2 years ago and since Hubby was also on O2, the minutes were more than sufficient to cover my use.
Most months I spent about 150-200 minutes a month calling his O2 mobile, but with him now being desk bound, it is likely that I will be calling him on 08 numbers to a similar extent. By my maths, this could cost me an extra £30 to £40 ON TOP of my £35 line rental.
I am at my its end with this. Can anyone suggest my next step. O2 are saying that had I been affected I would have had a text and since I didn't get a text I should have realised because they informed us by letter/bill etc. I have seen nothing!
O2 won't even allow me to change tariff for another 4 months to help reduce my bills.
Asked for a PAC code too and said I was in contract to December 08 and would be liable for full charges.
I know i sound like a Moany-Moo, but can someone please help!!!!
tnx,

Is the problem you want to get out of contract, or want to phone hubby?

A bit of both!!! :rotfl:
I suspect he could do without me calling him!!!
Actually, all I want to do is keep my mobile bills as low as possible. Since all networks now charge for these calls, I only need a £15-£20 line rental deal.
From what I can gather O2 aren't going to let me out of contract, but I think it is disgusting that they made these changes and did not inform all affected customers, only those they 'thought' were affected.0 -
Hello All,
I have one monthly contract with O2 - received the postal letter twise regarding changes in Charges for 08 numbers.......CAN I CANCEL MY CONTRACT......so far 6 months over for 12 months contract?
I have two contracts with CPW - O2....one upgraded in August 2007 and one on 18 months contract from Jan 2007........NO MESSAGE THAT 08 NUMBERS WILL BE CHARGED FROM CPW - O2 ......only used for 08 numbers.....as use for company calls......i mean commercial calls.......so can i CANCEL both the contracts.......while doing upgradation they said new charges will not be applicable to existing customers.............PLEASE ADVISE.......SO I CAN CANCEL ALL CONTRACTS.......and do some different arrangements.......
Thanks0 -
I only found out about the new charges for NGN numbers after checking my unbilled useage online (purely by chance) and seeing that the charges had started to appear - one call was £4.70+VAT, when I had expected it to be included in my minutes.
I have an old Genie tariff with 50 off peak mins/day to O2 and landline numbers, unlimited WAP and 600 texts/month for £20/month - I was using 08*** numbers to call other networks using my daily allowance.
I emailed to check on the charges (before checking out this thread) and got the bad news. Phoned to change tariff to one that included x-net minutes but was told I could only go on to a higher tariff, and would have to stick out my contract as I 'upgraded' in June (when I got a £100 credit and £5/month off my line rental for a year).
I then genned up (via this thread) and requested disconnection via email under the T&C's, due to the increased charges. Heard nothing after 5 days, so called this evening to request disconnection. I was initially told I was too late to ask (having missed the 28th Sep deadline) despite my protesting that I didn't receive the text about the new charges and could not have cancelled in time - as I didn't know about them! The chap told me that they basically had guidelines to follow and I'd have to complain to the O2 'Complaints Review Service' to set out my case.
He then suggested I could change tariff rather than cancel, and I said I was denied this opportunity when had I asked the other day. After a bit more blarney 'I can see you've been with us for a long time' etc, he agreed to put me on the SIM-only Online 20, which I am quite happy with: 400 anytime x-net mins, 1000 texts and unlimited calls to O2 customers, again for £20/month. I lose my unlimited WAP but gain GPRS and picture messaging which weren't available on my old tariff. I can also use my text allowance to send from abroad, which my old tariff didn't allow. He also said that I could 'downsize' to the £15/month tariff if I wanted to.
So I guess the point of all this is that it shows a bit of persistance pays. I never really wanted to disconnect anyway! Now I all I have to do is source the geographic numbers for the other NGN's I used to use my O2 phone for... :rolleyes:0
