im with 02 via CPW and never got round to fonin em till today. anyway i phoned and said i want to cancel due to the lack of NGN. so he asked which ones in particular and i said '0870, 0871 and 0845'. he was like 'well 0871 has never been included anyway' i was like 'hmmm yes they were coz i use it regularly and its always been inside of my mins. but for some reason its no longer included and its not even the 28th sept yet (as my 'unbilled charges' stand at around £5 and ive still got £300 mins left) anyways he looks at my acc and can see i use them alot and im not lying, and he's like 'so do u want ur PAC code then? ok hold please'.
then he comes back sayin 'ur pac code will come in a text message within 72 hours and a final bill in the post' and how ill be credited back with sum money n whatever.
he gave me the spin about how 'everyone else charges' but i spoke to t-mobile who said they were cheaper' and he was like 'well im with them and its 40p a min'. after him losing the argument he said ill not incur any charges or anything. so i get to keep my U600 and go get a new fone with a new contract from t-mobile. i was only 2-3 months into an 18 mnth contract. i also didnt have to quote any t&c's to him and he didnt even try get me to stay by offerin deals or anything. he was just like 'yea... ok... cool' he didnt seem bothered! i think its where i genuinely use those numbers alot and he could see it.
i may phone back later to check on the pac code being 72 hours, incase he was spinnin me a line making me go past the 30 day notice.
Either way, for me t-mobile is cheaper and they are doin a free weekends promo at the mo so im hopping back to them.
good luck to the ones yet to get through with CPW. x.x.x0 -
Finally? sorted CPW ends 1/10/07, after 30 day notice given in the ordinary 1st class letter, follow up recorded delivery sent on 11th, no trace.
After email reply had said system error sorted, I got a letter this monday requiring £200+ saying I had broken contract, and requesting me to contact them to confirm that I was in agreement.. NOT
Phoned and they confirmed that this was not the case and my contract will end with no fee.
Was told the pac is sent via text 7 days after the termination was entered on my account (21st), so should be tomorrow.
Still no tracking on my recorded del letter, so off to post office to claim my £34.:Dac's lovechild0 -
How can you claim £34 for a letter? You can claim i asume for the paper and ink but thats about it.0
-
As I understand, compensation is up to 100 x 1st class stamp. That figure was what was entered as "value" of the importance of the letter on the recorded delivery receipt. ( which has not tracked within the 15 day limit)
Otherwise what was the point of paying around a pound to send the letter. The compensation will be for non delivery of an item of importance.ac's lovechild0 -

a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
I think we should start a petition online and also see if ofcom can intervene - as this was definitely a reason why lot of us have renewed contracts with o2.
I remeber that before my o2 contract which i have had for almost 2 years (renewed in May 07), i had the orange everyday 50 which allowed o8 numbers on the inclusive minutes and i had left it for o2.
Anyone up for it?0 -
I am an o2 online customer and am 2 months into an 18month contract. I e-mailed CS yesterday from the o2 website and requested to end my contract because of increases in charges for non geographical numbers.
I received my PAC code within about 2 hours and even got a follow up text this morning with the info.No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
I upgraded my contract around 1st August. I specifically asked about the 0845/0844/0870 numbers and was told by the woman that my tariff would be unaffected and they'd still be included after September. I double-checked that with them again before upgrading and was told the same.
So, now I've just checked my unbilled usage for this month and bam .. charges as of 28th September.
My question is: Do the charges now affect all tariffs on O2? I have read this thread and know that I can try and break my contract in line with the terms and conditions ... and am fully prepared thanks to the OP and everyone's input so far. Do O2 offer better deals to stay, with handsets too - if you've only just upgraded and threaten to end the contract and/or completely ditch them?
Thanks in advance.0 -
