I don't normally use IE so I clear all cookies in it then use it to make any cashback purhase. They have always tracked for me.

    Same here.

What has screwed up recently was one where Carphone Warehouse declined payment for no apparent reason and one where I bought something from Maplin where the Maplin staff clearly didn't follow the correct procedure as I got an email reminding me about the reservation I'd made a couple of days after picking the thing up.

    Similar thing happened at Halfords.

The Topcashback Snap & Save seems very unreliable for me (declined with no explanation, despite nice clear receipts showing everything) than Quidco Clicksnap recently. They use the same affiliate and it's often the same products on offer (you cannot submit the same claim to both), but I'll probably stick with Quidco for this now.

Seems to me the top cashback site is a huge con. There is no reason why my cashback should not be paid when all evidence is there. Their team seem very weak in resolving anything and ai have so many "waiting for merchant" status on hold from last year it's a joke. Sending a "nudge" does nothing.

    So no I don't agree it's a huge con.

I must admit larger purchases do seem to fail on my account, recently SSE failed to track at £130 , i did put in a claim and it was successful luckily, i now use Quidco for larger amounts and they track ok

I have quite a bit that has been declined , possibly due to using codes

I have made small purchases with Argos which all tracked. I then make a large purchase for nearly £500 in Argos guess what.............. it has failed to track. Put in a claim and that is now looking unlikely to come to fruition.

    :(

I think most of these cashback tracking problems are caused by not following the instructions and clearing old visit cookies. I use IE for cashback visits and clear all cookies before starting off - that's because I rarely use IE and don't mind clearing all the cookies.

That said I had a declined SIM and MiFi purchase from CarPhoneWarehouse which I then disputed. It took a long long time (6 months or so) but I did just recently get £60 credit from it.

I also got £5 from TCB when Ovivo went bust. That was entirely ex-gratia.

I think cashback sites are honest enough but you won't always get best value by using them. I certainly don't make any purchases based on the all-too-frequent emails. If I want something I check around for the best deals and then factor in any cashback offers before deciding how to buy.

My experiences of TCB have been positive. I've been using them for just over 6 years, and the tracking/payout rate is about 97%. I've received £1870. £63 has been declined or failed to track.

I've found TCB to be very good at chasing up retailers for the commission. In some cases, it has taken a year to get the money, but TCB keep trying.

I've been very disappointed with Quidco OTOH. Only a 91% success rate. Only one declined transaction, but it was for £49 cashback on a £408 spend with Hotels.com. Quidco simply said the sale had been cancelled, even though I sent them a plethora of information showing I have paid for the hotel and completed the stay. They just rejected my complaints within minutes without even investigating them.

I think you have to accept the occasional failure. If TCB or Quidco don't get the commission, they can't pass it on to you. Simple as that. I don't think the size of the transaction is relevant. I've had several sales with a cashback value of over £100 that have paid out OK.

There does seem to be a problem with come retailers. Holland & Barrett never track, but always pay up eventually when you query it. And that's not unique to TCB, I've had the same problem using the British Airways / Avios e-commerce site (Gate 365)

Hubb, I'm just starting to think exactly the same thing myself. Recently the big purchases fail to track (2 at Currys, 1 at Broadband Genie and 1 for Jet2holidays) but the smaller ones all go through. I've raised claims for all of them, Currys have rejected 1 but I've asked them to look at it again. If they fail I intend to ask Topcashback for a contact name at the retailer and complain directly, or to their customer services followed by the CEO. After all the money comes from the retailer so I'd expect them to explain why they are treating a customer that way.
A couple of years ago a similar situation happened with Talktalk, but to their credit TCB eventually got the cash (took nearly a year)
The downside with TCB is that you can't raise a claim for a period of time and it's easy to forget, so I've started making a separate log everytime I use them. In the case of Broadband Genie it is not until 4 months have passed which is outside TCB's normal 100 days max for a claim!
