Be patient hubb, merchants impose those periods because of people purchasing, then returning and pocketing the cash back.

After 29th August your claim will progress along the normal route and be submitted to the merchant for review.

This does not answer my question as to why TCB never tracks (unless it's Ebay with piddling amounts) so no, this isn't good advice in this instance.

Also, I cannot always put in an untracked cashback claim for certain merchants like John Lewis/London Midland trains (ironically, the higher purchases) because the site does not allow it. Tried yesterday and got this message:

It is not possible to lodge a Missing Cashback Claim for this merchant. For further information, please feel free to submit a support ticket from the Customer Care section of your account.

The TCB customer care asked me which merchants hadn't tracked. They wanted dates , merchants etc which I gave. They followed up with telling me to lodge a claim with them (which I obviously can't) so that was pretty useless. What is the point of customer care if they can't even look into anything ?

Click on the i next to £0.00- what message do you get?

    Hubb,

This may have changed since your purchase but both John Lewis and London Midland trains are not offering any cash back on TCB currently.

Therefore, if this was applicable when you clicked through you would not be earning cash back and would not be able to lodge a claim.

I agree customer care shouldn't advise a claim for a merchant when they don't accept claims for that merchant. Perhaps you could let them know of the poor customer service they have given you in this instance.

But you need to look at how you are using TCB if not much is tracking. Many people have given you advice on this. Have you looked at doing anything suggested?

Or, leave TCB and go to Qudico as you keep saying. Perhaps a move to Quidco would help show whether it's you or TCB causing the non-tracking events.

Well looking at my abysmal cashback tracking history for Simply Supplements I have made 5 purchases from their store in 1 year and ALL transactions have failed to track. Even with a claim lodged the status is still "waiting for member action" on all claims since Jan 2015.

I am really wondering if TCB actually pocket the cashback and fob us off with a failed tracking.

So I bought a new telly off AO.com last year. Used TCB and a TCB code provided to get an extra £25 off. I think it was a special cashback offer on Samsung too so got a Samsung with 10% cashback. Also bought a freezer in the same transaction. Didn't track. £42 due on the telly and £4 on the freezer.

Couldn't raise a joint claim as they only accept one rate/item per claim. Telly claim sat waiting for 9 months until eventually the 'network declined' it. I went straight back to AO.com complaining, and then said they'd honour the cashback despite them not seeing the referral link, but TCB still won't budge!!

Annoys me - I agree with OP: small transactions seem to track OK but the big ones somehow don't.

None of my transactions are tracking on TopCashBack; a complete waste of time.

Do you visit the retailer's site before trying Top Cashback?

Sometimes; sometimes not. But that shouldn't make a difference because ultimately you are choosing to buy with the expectation of the topcashback discount whether you look first or not. So long as you use topcashback before the actual purchase it should, in theory, work but rarely does. If you are just browsing several options, it is not convenient to keep going through TCB first! Neither is keep deleting cookies an option; too inconvenient entering details for every site again which the cookies record.

If it's all too inconvenient for you then you need to accept that you won't be getting cash back. It's not the fault of TCB that you can't be bothered.
