Academia thank you. I am very proud of DS. He has learnt to save his money until he finds something he really wants to buy with it, and even then will deliberate over how much he will have left. Unfortunately, DD is the exact opposite and can't wait to spend money as soon as she has it.

Bob thanks for the info. Card payments hadn't even crossed my mind. It's something I need to put some serious thought into. I think I need to decide whether I am going to do regular stalls or just do a few occasional ones to promote the business.

Today has been another fab day. Went to watch the Wales rugby team train at the local stadium and then me and DS had tickets for this evenings q&a session. We met 3 of the players, including DSs hero.

It's also been a SFD, bringing my total to 2 so far.

My children are exactly the same with money. DS is a saver and enjoys looking at his bank balance and his physical cash. DD loves the thrill of choosing something, paying for it and bringing it home, there is a lot more temptation for girls out there though and lots of inexpensive items she can buy but I do worry about how she will balance the spending/saving when she is an adult.

I am taking the kids out today we are going to a pretty little village about 12 miles away, I've never visited it before but have wanted to for a while. There is a canal tunnel there which is over 3 miles long and they do trips through it by boat so we are going to do that. I am packing up a picnic so that will save but there may be a treat later. Yesterday we went to the local country park in the afternoon with the dog and we all had an ice cream, I don't normally have one but they did one with a layer of crisp chocolate over the top - £6 spent on those:eek:. All this comes from my holiday budget though and when it's spent it's spent.

Today has been another NSD - yippee!

Today I am grateful for good coffee, for my lovely dd, for the satisfaction of sorting and tidying, for getting the final (I hope) paperwork done for my marking and talking to a lovely lady on the phone when the internet page was pesky, for space and peace and quiet to breathe and be still.

  • Evening turtles! Fmess you are still doing fantastically even if you've bought a couple of things you wouldn't normally buy :) hope you enjoyed your day out Dolly.
Tonight could have been really pricey...OH has decided that my general lethargy, sickness and fatigue is due to "anaemia" (it's not, but I haven't eaten meat for a few weeks and due to also not eating dairy it's meant a lot of vegan meals which my body's not used to) - so he decided we needed steak. I told him we could have anything he wanted, as long as he got it YS - cue trip to Mr A's, where we got some steak, some salmon for me for tomorrow, a HUGE jar of mayo and some ciabatta bread, all at a discount! He also found some YS gluten/dairy-free pain au chocolat, which we had for dessert. Feeling very full now, and rather pleased that we didn't break the bank :)
Really do need to get this tiredness under control though - that or I need a holiday, one of the two!
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

    Hi All

MotherNerd - Fingers crossed the prospective buyers might be serious then! Would be a shame to have to drop your price.

Apple - Meant to say, in response to your earlier post, are your guests not chipping in for food yet? Or have you not wanted to ask them?

Welshkitty - Yes a point of strategy to decide on no doubt. It also depends on what your price point is like. For example if the average spend is less than £5 you may find people are quite happy to just give you cash anyway. Over that and a card machine may well be worth the cash if you are planning to do several fairs. Sounds fun with the rugby team stuff too!

Dolly - Your day out sounds lovely.

Academia - What sort of diet are you trying to follow then? Wasnt sure from your post. Hope you feel less tired soon. Might be worth getting your iron levels checked just in case?

Quite a long day, paid off another £94.47 to the debt today. This takes me to £300 left on the interest bearing card. Or £245 including the floating £55 cash I keep mentioning.

OH had his appraisal at work today which went fine. So thats one less thing to worry about.

    Off for a soak.

    Thanks Academia

Well done on all the stretch payments Bob

What marking do you still have paperwork for Apple? Feel free not to answer if it's confidential, I'm just being nosey.

Hope you've had some peace and quiet nannygladys

That rugby stuff seems like a great experience Welshkitty

Today was finally another SFD :j Had a lovely catch up this am with a friend but then had a poorly tummy and felt a bit emotional this afternoon, so definitely a day of two halves.

Hi everyone, last night was another bad one, I didn't sleep more than 1 1/2 hrs but the funny thing is I was really tired this morning and this afternoon I have been busy physically and I felt fine, at least dgd was an angel this morning for me, so I just took it easy on the settee!!!!

Mothernerd I hope your house sells soon, as it seems to take up a lot of your time what with all the travelling to and fro. Hope everybody else is fine and dandy.

Sfd for me so on 6 now, and as I'm painting some furniture in the next few days I'm hoping it will keep me put of the shops and on the straight and narrow, it's for one of the spare bedrooms and is the old stuff that's already in there, so hoping it comes out OK but I suppose it can't really be any worse than it is already, most of it was my dd1 bedroom furniture and now it's used by her dd!!

Anyway going to bed now, hoping I sleep tonight but at least I haven't got to get up for anything, only my painting.

Fmess - the 'paperwork' is the centre's work - recording and associated paperwork - that has to be returned to them after a certain time. I still have other paperwork I have to keep until 31 October in case of query!

misstara - well done on getting under 5k - what a feeling!

nanny - I do hope you got better sleep last night. It really is debilitating when you can't sleep.

Welshkitty - oooh, all that rugby! Jealous apple here!!

Bob - guests aren't contributing - yet! It's my dss + his gf and they'll be here more long-term from Sept. Rather complicated, but we decided that they are 'guests' for August and can then contribute from Sept.

Today is the A level results day, so I shall pop in to work and see how they did. Dd was supposed to be going to soccer school again, but didn't fancy it last night, so we may go swimming instead. She has a little friend coming over this afternoon, so it may/should end up as another NSD (swim money already 'enveloped').

    Morning Turtles

It's lashing it down here. Getting ready for a wet cycle in. This rain means it will either be really busy or really quiet. No in between on a bad weather day.

Need to think of something warming and delicious for dinner tonight I think.

    Have a good day everyone.
