The so-called 'basic' cartridges supplied with Canon cartridges are in no way 'starter' cartridges - they can print around 180 pages.
[Starter cartridges print around 20 pages].

What people are saying is that canons "basic" cartridges are the equivalent to the "starter" cartridges in that they are not full cartridges, they're just designed to get you started.

Its like getting the "basic" broadband package off different suppliers. It may be their bottom package, but it doesn''t mean that every basic package from every supplier will offer the same speed/limits.

But why bother trying to explain.

Did you bother to read post #65 above, some canon printers come with Setup cartridges, in other words starter cartridges so the person was not telling lies.

I bought a cheap HP printer a couple of weeks ago and the "starter" cartridges are still going strong after at least 40 pages of full colour printing.

But were they called starter or basic cartridges?

What did the box hint at?

What did the cashier tell you about all the other printers on the shelf?

    Useless post without that info....

If they only print 180 pages, then they are clearly not full cartridges.

Perhaps we could call them basic starter cartridges, but I'm not sure whether that helps.

Can the box have hints on? This box may contain a basic starter cartridge.

Canon do 2 types of cartridges. The basic ones print around 180 pages; but their XL cartridges print much more. All Canon printers are said to come with the basic cartridges; replacements are available in basic or XL sizes.
'Starter' cartridges have a small amount of ink to get you going and will only print around 20 pages.
