Printer cartridge fraud

I went to the greengrocers and bought an apple.
I asked the man behind the counter, "If I peel this, will it be an Orange inside?"
He said "No sir. It will be an apple"
I bought it and went outside. Peeled my fruit only to find that it actually was an apple inside. Just like I was told!!"
Can I take the grocer to the Small Claims Court or should I involve the Police?0 -
I went to Staples to buy a new printer. The 2 that found suitable were a Canon and an Epson. On the canon it showed the cartridge capacity - the cartridge number and how many pages it could print. There was the basic one and the XL one; the basic was shown to be included and could print 180 pages.
Irrelevant, you did not buy the Canon. If it said it came with a solid gold stack of paper, it wouldn't matter. You did not buy that item.It was a similar story with the Epson although it did not mention what was included or not.
So not misleading or 'fraudulent' in any way.I took the Epson the till assuming it came with the basic cartridges.
Why? Why would you assume printer A came with stuff that printer B promised. If they were the same brand I could half appreciate your assumption, but there were not.The cashier told me to buy extra cartridges as the ones contained in the box were only 'starter' cartridges and could only print 20 pages.
How helpful! Thumbs up to Mr Cashier.I asked him to show on the box where it mentioned this but he was unable to do so. So I assumed the cashier was try to pull the wool over my eyes to spend more money on cartridges.
Were you able to show the cashier the place on the box where it said it came with 'basic' not 'starter' cartridges... oh no, because earlier you said 'it did not mention what was included or not.'Lo and behold when I opened the box at home, I found there were only 'starter' cartridges. Brilliant!&*&*&
Lo and behold, the cashier was right!Now I can argue that the box did not have any indication of this;
Yup, and so can everyone else, because it is correct.in fact the box labeling was misleading in hinting that there were basic cartridge in the box.
How did it 'hint' at it having basic cartridges? By sitting on the shelf next to another make of printer that said THAT printer did? You said yourself the box did not say what it came with. Since when do products HINT at the wonders that may lie inside...However, if I go back to Staples and complain they will say 'we told you so'.
I think they will say this, because they did tell you so.Where do I stand on this one?
Next to a printer with starter cartridges.btw the 'starter' cartridges are useless in more ways than one. You can only print around 20 pages and you cant refill them with third-party ink as the tank is blocked.
Thanks for that.0 -
Marliepanda.
you're only saying that because you work for Staples!.
Sorry. Just wanted to get that in before the OP does,0 -

What a baseless accusation. I do not work for staples.
I OWN STAPLES.0 -
Just a side note - whether the cartridges contain 3ml or 7ml or 10ml (each are abusively low for the price), the first use of the printer will use a load of the ink to prime the system, often drawn through the pipes (if separate head), squirted into a sponge to clear the heads, printing test pages etc.
Laser, only laser now.0 -
I bought a Canon Pixma MG5650 printer in January and it came with a full set of Canon standard ink cartridges in the box which print over 300 A4 pages, not starter cartridges.0

As I said before, the Canon box indicated that it had full basic cartridges but the staff told me that it 'starter' cartridges just like the Epson. This swayed my decision to buy either and I went for the Epson.
I have written to Canon to enquire about this and this is their reply:
"In reference to your enquiry regarding your MG2450, we can confirm that this printer comes with a set of FINE cartridges (regular ones)."
Now I would say that I was given misleading information leading me to discard the Canon from purchase. I believe I have cause for complaint against Staples, though I do not have any legal rights.

What does basic or starter mean though...they may or may not mean the same thing? Personally I'd think they meant the same.0 -
You had took the Epson to the till, you were not asking for a comparison. I like how you have added this 'oh well I'll get the canon' aspect to your initial complaint which was not there before.0
