Just an update for you all, I had a letter off them yesterday aswell so I emailed them telling them that I had cancelled within the 14 days and sent back the product told them that I had also been in touch with the financial services and I had an email back saying that they had been advised to close the case which I'm my eyes is a result and I've kept the email for future proof0

An update for you I sent them an email (uk@ggn.nl) and got the below reply.
Dear Sir, dear Madam,
We confirm receipt of your reaction in regards to the claim of our customer.
Due to the nature of your dispute, our customer advised us to close the case.
Kind reagards,
GGN0 -
Just an update, I have also emailed FCA and I am waiting a reply. I am worried about emailing GGN as I don't want to give them any more information on me than they already have .0

Just had this email guys.
Dear Mr........
Thank you for your email regarding GGN Mastering Credit.
I have searched the relevant registers and cannot find an entry for the company. This means they are not regulated by us. You may wish to contact the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets to check if they know about the company. Please proceed with caution because this could be a scam which can mean you losing money. Also, if you did do any business with GNN Mastering Credit and something went wrong, you will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
If you are still unsure how to proceed, please speak with your local Citizens Advice Bureau as they provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. I hope this is helpful to you.
Yours sincerely

Hi All
I had this reply from the FCA, quite comprehensive and I thought very helpful. I've also e-mailed GGN, disputing their claim and advising them I have contacted the FCA but as yet haven't had a response.
I thank you for your recent email regarding your concerns with the firm GGN Mastering Credit. I can appreciate why you have contacted the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Your Question

You have asked the FCA to confirm if the above firm is a legitimate business with a licence in this country. The FCA regulates debt collection firms with regards to credit agreements and hire agreements, it is unclear from your email if there is any sort of credit agreement in place.

Firms that are regulated by the FCA will appear on the financial services register and the Interim Permissions Consumer Credit Register. I have checked both registers and cannot see this firm as being authorised by the FCA.

What you can do

As you have mentioned this firm is collecting on behalf of a company related to a scam you may wish to contact your local police station alternatively you can report this to an organisation called Action Fraud as they are part of the City of London Police and look at fraud issues.

What the FCA will do

If I can ask you to provide me with a copy of any documents you have received from this firm and any other information you can provide, as this will be useful in determining if this firm is carrying out a regulated activity or not.

If this firm is carrying out any regulated activity without being authorised I will be passing any information you provide to an internal department that looks at unauthorised firms. Please be aware due to confidentiality restrictions they will be unable to provide you with the results of any investigation.

I hope the information I have provided has been useful to you.0 -
This is interesting.
I've just received a call on my mobile from telephone number +1044. It was a dreadful line but what I was able to make out, the person on the other end had a foreign accent and said they were calling from a company called e-consumer regarding a charge-back I'd made through my bank against purchases made from a company, whose name included "Germany" (but I neither caught it properly nor recognised having bought anything from a German company). They said they were acting as a 3rd-party company and also mentioned something about "credit rating", but I asked them to call me back again in a few days once I'd had a chance to speak to my bank and find out what was going on.
I had fallen for one of these deals where you can buy a trial skin care product for the price of just postage and packaging, but inadvertently found I'd signed up for a CPA of almost £180 per month (I returned the products within 30 days as per their T&Cs and my bank is in the process of trying to recover the money this company has taken already - I haven't heard yet from the bank as to whether or not they've been successful).
Having read through everything here, I wonder now if this +1044 phone call is a different angle on the letters being received by people here?0 -
I too have received one of these letters for the exact same reason.
Last year i was looking to lose a little bit of weight and signed up through one of them pages on Facebook. It said send me my free bottle, so of course none of us think about the consequences and just fill our address and click 'send' -Free trial? whats there to lose? you pay the shipping and they send you the bottle FREE to see if you like it?
I never received my bottle of weight loss product a week down the line and went to there website to try and contact them to see where it was. To my surprise, I then saw the terms and conditions stating i would be charged ridiculous amounts of money if i didn't cancel within 14-days or whatever, i would be charged (£200+) for this bottle.
I immediately rang the number to no avail and tried to contact them through there email. It was days before i received a reply to say i needed to return the product, by then they would of charged me. Instead of me being charged i immediately contacted my bank to tell them not to allow any payments to be taken out. My bank put my account on hold and sent me a new bank cards a few days/a week later.
Thinking all is ok! 11 months down the line! To then find a letter from GGN mastering credit saying i owe them over £170.00! - I was absolutely shocked. I don't know how these companies can get away with it. First they attempt to scam us through free trials which clearly don't work anyway, then they Finish us off by getting debt collectors to chase the money! don't they make enough money by ripping people off without getting GGN involved? i am absolutely shocked.. i bet they make millions of innocent people! I dread to think how many people owe the bank money because these scumbags have made them overdrawn! It's disgusting.
If anything, they owe me money for the shipping cost i paid for the product to which i didn't receive!
Does anyone know what we do in regards to this letter? do we pay them? do we ignore it? how do we go about resolving this? i have attempted to contact GGN directly at (uk@ggn.nl) so i will await there reply. What if they make us pay it?
I have spoke to Citizens Advice and they told me to pay it. I'm confused. I don't have much money and only a student.. It's made me feel awful.0 -
I would never deal with someone, claiming to be a debt collector, over the phone, let alone one ringing from another country.
I'd want it all in writing.0 -

If you read the other replies on this thread you will see that paying it is not a good idea.0 -

Were these raspberry ketones by any chance? The product might well have been something that cannot legally be sold within the EU: check with the Food Standards Agency or the MHRA Borderline Agency. If so, the contract would not have been valid and so in legal terms you could not possibly owe anything.0
