Isn't this just another case of 'debt collectors' trying it on? I've always thought that if these kind of debts were ever genuine then why would they need to keep selling them on to other 'debt collection' agencies months or even years later?
Sounds like the usual scare tactics to me. Even if 90% of people just ignore demand letters it seems like these kind of places can still make a killing.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -

I wouldn't say that, after all, why do banks sell debts to DCA's in the first place if they're genuine? Why not just use small claims, charging orders or bankruptcy?
The ultimate answer is money, sometimes it's just more cost effective to sell it on for a few quid and let someone else have a go if they want to.0 -
Does every one have settle their claims ? As the GGN haven't reply my email yet . I'm really worry and feel scare can't sleep for fews days already .0

To the people who say they are scared this I think is mostly because they don't understand how the legal system works.
Many debt collectors both foreign and those based in britain rely on peoples fear of court action.
It is highly unlikely a foreign debt collection company would attempt to take you to court, tbh it is rare for debt collectors in this country to plump for court action unless the debt is high enough to make it worth their while pursuing.
If they do go to court unless it is a very high amount it will be in small claims you can either admit the amount or dispute, you can go to court if you choose and as an individual defendant can ask for the case to be held at your local court.
In this case these companies will not have the level of proof that a court would require, which is why they rely on people being scared and paying up.
The absolute worst that could happen if a debt collector went to court and you lost? Yes its a CCJ BUT as long as you pay in full within 28 days it doesn't go on your credit file and is in effect wiped out. It sometimes will appear initially but should be removed as soon as payment is made as long as its in the period, if not removed you can inform the court and get it removed.
Don't let them scare you, all debt collectors will lie and threaten as it is their best weapon as they know often their claims wouldn't stand up to scrutiny in a court.

I received the same letter this morning... And Followed the advice on here.
I emailed them , advising them that i do not take kindly to threatening letters and i will take them to court including telling the financial ombudsmen and trading standards and within 30 mins had been sent a reply email with the same message as others regarding confirming receipt of my reaction and due to the nature of the dispute , they have been advised to close the case.
Please nobody give them money , this is a scam and they are chancers!0 -

The account was closed and these items were not required never opened and returned within the 14 days from receiving and I have never received any invoices at all.

I had a letter from Ggn demanding £105, I emailed them only to get a mailing from my email provider saying their Domain name not found........so I'm assuming that it's a scam and will see about passing the information and letter on to the fraud team at the police.0
