Has the OP established that this person isn't a danger to them? He believes they are going to a party at another house, but perhaps it is something more sinister?0 -
Just ring the police and tell them a vehicle is parked on your driveway and you've heard banging around outside your house and you are too afraid to investigate yourself and fear for your families well being. Police will be interested then and turn up, figure out who owns the car and the shock of the situation will stop any normal person from parking there.
They didn't even turn up when the alarm was activated in the Hatton Garden heist!Holding back the years...0 -
the string/rope with "PRIVATE DRIVEWAY" is the best solution, or put a note on the windscreen.
Park your car at the end of the driveway to prevent access to the wider part?
buy/obtain a cheap "roadworks cone" - put cone in the way of entrance.
Personally, if it were my driveway i would block them in with my own car and then when they knock the door, take a good while to find my car keys.GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -

That's a good point. :rotfl:0 -

How is this driveway private property solely for your use when you live in an apartment block? How do you know the vehicle is not visiting one of the other tenants? I think there's more to this than meets the eye, hence why you seem determined to obtain the car owners details from DVLA rather than opt for the simplest solution of just leaving a note on their windscreen. You have form for being an interfering old busy body, after all.0

I don't live in an apartment block. I used to. Now I live in a house.
Some other points:
- I can't leave a note. He/she isn't parked there now.
- I can't block him/her in. I have an arc-shaped drive (effectively two connected drives).
I don't want to go to the trouble of blocking the driveway every time I arrive and leave. If I do that every time I will (by my rough calculations) spend around 7 hours a year blocking/unblocking my drive.
My preferred solution is the V888, but I'd like to hear more, as the 'reasonable cause' for submitting a request is unclear to me. Is this a reasonable cause? And is no proof enough proof? I've had one or two answers on this above.0 -
May be they do it to wind you up. If your chosen course of action is to request information from DVLA so that you can let them know that you know who they are and where they live, then do it, what more do you need to know? Reasonable cause will be on the website, or established through a phone call. Tracing an owner of a car parked illegally on private land is reasonable cause if that land is yours, ask them if you can issue a parking ticket while your on :wall:The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Nigh on 90 replies and you still can't go and get a form and get the information for £2.50. I suppose DVLA might reject your request but as this rate you will die before you find out.0
