Our system number will appear as the sender ID while sending the SMS through Vyke Lite. This is to prevent the fault use where the user will able to modify the callback from the application itself.
Given that all their calllback methods allow both numbers to be defined, I can't see why anyone would feel a need to do this

Either that, or something is lost in translation ...
  • We appreciate for your write in.
Kindly be inform that our system number will appear as the SMS sender ID for Vyke Lite to prevent from the fault use where Vyke Lite is able to change the callback number option from the program itself).

Please proceed to download Vyke Mobile Pro application from http://mobile.vykepro.com by using your mobile Internet browser.
This will provide you the SMS service which display your number as the sender ID.

I've suggested they could append your number to the bottom of the message once it reaches their servers, so at least the recipient knows who it is from.
I took ..to prevent from the fault use.. to mean that people were changing the sender ID in the JAD file to fake numbers (which isn't a problem, Dynmark let you, and the free SMSing websites..) but yeah translation issues.

Okay I may be the only one on Vyke Lite here, but in case I'm not - I found my login details and got the new version. It looks nice and is simpler to use, but I'm finding the recipient of my texts no longer sees my number as the sender, but +4477777 instead. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I've got the same problem. Emailed Vyke but no reply yet. I can't find any solution to it so far. :(

So basically you can no longer use Vyke on O2 P&G:cry: I might try and email Vyke again asking them to change the software back to how it worked before but I have a funny feeling I'll get an email saying "sorry, but no". This does mean they will have just lost a lot of potential customers though! I'll post back any reply I get.

Whats more annoying is that I now have money in my Vyke balance that I can only use from my computer, when I could just use cbfsms for free anyway! Grrr....

    Iain
  • You could always sell your account to someone you know? Or have a backup phone?
Yeah that's bad news for you, sorry to hear it.
At least it seems that O2 tried much more to help you than Vyke did!

oo - new email from vyke
We would like to apologize for the mistake and please allow us to feedback to you once these had been rectify. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Interestingly this was in reply to the first email I sent them. Perhaps this means they're trying to fix the problem? Or are going to re-release the old version?
Hopefully whatever they do your O2 problem gets solved too, Iain

  • I can confirm that i have received the exact same emails from Vyke after i complained about the sender ID being +44777777 ..

I hate vyke pro as it is such a cumbersome application for such a simple task.

incoming sms's to vyke pro users also go into the Vyke inbox and NOT your regular inbox.

Vyke is too ambitious in trying to create an 'all in one' application to take over your phone. I like the looks of the new version, and the new sent messages outbox is useful, but other than that .. it's just all bloat and no float.

Let's hope this is resolved soon.

Oh, in the meantime, i am using vyke pro as it is the only way to have your sender ID stamped to messages. There is a way to ensure you don't send unnecessary data .. set the connection timeout to 1 minute or 5 minutes. your connection will drop after this time and no more data will be sent.

    Keep us posted!
  • Vyke Mobile Problem

I have been using Vyke to send texts on T-mobile using a Motorola V3 without problems during free trial - except vykepro would not work and address book inaccessable.

Last week I topped up £10 for first time and received message telling me upgrade required. I upgraded and I can no longer use the program or service.

I have sent 3 emails to Vyke support - the first explained the problem and they responded by asking me to explain the problem? Since then they do not reply.

I have lost £2 downloading software and £10 top up! Is anybody else having the same problem?
  • I have tried to download and use Vyke again on my phone and my wifes phone costing me another £1 each to download - Now lost £14!

It seemed to work fine and sent texts but they never arrived! I have tried 3 texts.

I am not getting any replies from Vyke Support.

I have informed Moneysavingexpert of problem but service is still being recommended? Am I the only person affected?
  • At times, Vyke can have a delay of several hours to sms's being delivered.

It sux ... but this could explain why the sms's are reaching the recipient.

Also, just for completeness, check the phone number that it is in +4407... format.

I am no supporter of the new version of vyke, and they are !!!!! for changing a working formula!

But given that it's done .... i have to make best

EDIT: Why is it costing you £1 to download the application each time? Data charges?
