Vyke is not free, it's cheap but certainly not free, so i'm afraid this is not for you my friend.0

Vyke has just stopped sending messages for me all of a sudden, saying it can't connect to the internet.
I'm pay monthly on o2.
Is there a chance they've blocked this on my phone?0 -
Hi Simmster,
There is a comment above received by someone from O2 advising that O2 payg blocks vyke.
On the basis of the O2 block I have now an orange payg sim card and have migrated my number across to the orange sim. I have tried to use vykelite but I get exactly the same issue as I had with O2, namely that all is well the point at which I wish to send the message and I get the screen hanging os 'Sending data'. Is anyone able to advise please?
Regards,
Stevie0 -
hurm well I guess as an Orange Vyke user, I'm the one who can help most - I don't really get that - it hangs there for maybe 10 secs - but here's my advice:
make sure you're have a very good reception (good at the least)
make sure in your phone settings you have allowed the program internet accessHaikus are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense

Hi Wolverine,
Thanks for replying. I can connect my to the internet without issue. For example I can connect to yahoo etc without any issue at all using my phone. Any other suggestions are much appreciated.
I've emailed Vyke support to ask them but they don't seem to provide the quickest service in replying.

i mean, you'll need to set internet options for the specific application
i don't know what phone make/model you have so I can't help yet
But for me I can hover over Vyke in my applications folder, use the right thumb button and look around the optionsHaikus are easy

Hi again,
My phone is a fairly old Nokia 6021 - text only. When I look in the settings for the app there doesn't seem to be an option to configure it for web access. When I tried to send a text message the last question I get asked before sending is, 'allow network access' to which I reply yes. It's after this that I get the screen hanging on 'sending data'.
Can I ask what settings you have selected for your phone in the web settings? I have a choice of 'Orange', 'Orange world' and 'Orange WAP GPRS'. I've tried all 3 and it doesn't seem to make any difference but I would prefer to select the same option as someone who is using this successfully.
Regards,
Stevie0 -
I think I'm using Orange GPRS
If I were you, I'd see what help you can get from the Nokia communityHaikus are easy

I don't text much and find it irritating, but may need to send quite a few. Are there any sites where I can send texts for free to a mobile from my computer? There used to be some sites that allowed a number of free texts. Needless to say I don't want the receiver or myself to pay anything, or be spammed!
There may be a way of doing this on the Orange site (I have a pay as you go orange mobile)0 -
