New to Vyke, seems to be working great so far on my k800i.
Quick question though... I'm texting abroad to Finland to someone who doesn't have Vyke, so i only need Vyke to connect to the internet when i send a text. However, i like the layout of Vyke Pro.
Is there a way i can change the settings so that Vyke only connects to the net to send messages?
It says 'offline' on Vyke, but i still worry that it's 'pinging' the web every so often. Would turning that OFF stop it connecting?
If someone could help, i'd appreciate it!!

Have a look in the Settings, at Ping interval and Connection timeout.
I haven't used Pro much, and I'm not connecting right at the edge of coverage for the SIM I registered in it, so I can't recommend what to try changing those to, but a few experiments will give you some ideas. I noticed the Off option in the first, which you mention ...

I've downloaded the new VykeLite to my only phone with that version of Java, but not decided which SIM to register yet. Has anyone experimented with changing the account settings after the initial set-up, like the phone number and Vyke PIN? Will these newer applications only work with the defined SIM card number, or any (like the old one would)?0 -
At times, Vyke can have a delay of several hours to sms's being delivered.
It sux ... but this could explain why the sms's are reaching the recipient.
Also, just for completeness, check the phone number that it is in +4407... format.
I am no supporter of the new version of vyke, and they are !!!!! for changing a working formula!
But given that it's done .... i have to make best
EDIT: Why is it costing you £1 to download the application each time? Data charges?
Hi K9plus1 - Messages never recieved and charges are for Data useage.
I got an email reply today from Vyke advising me to download again - another £1 and still will not work
Dear customer,
Thank you for contacting Vyke Support.

We thank you for your patience while waiting for our feedback.
We wish to have your favor to download the Vyke Lite application manually from http://mobile.vykelite.com by using your mobile browser.
You will then requested to enter your mobile number ( with country code) and your Pin number while the installation is in progress.
In another hand, we would like to to remind you that as Vyke Lite is the enhancement version of Vyke Mobile Lite, there are some new features had been integrated which included " Edit Callback Number". This is cause the SMS Sender ID appear as our system number - +44777777 to avoid from the fault use of the application.
We wish that you will happy with the service.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.
Kind Regards,
Vyke Support Team
This has been going on since 26/2 and I have asked for a refund but they are not replying to that email.0 -
My first post on here, been browsing for a while
I have been using Vyke for a long time now, with a Motorola V3 on Virgin, with no major problems, however I too am now experiencing the issues mentioned previously since I was prompted to upgrade to Vyke Lite, as my version had said it had been depreciated.
the sender ID from any text I send using Vyke comes up as +44777777 and thus the recipient has no way of knowing who the text is from unless stated in the message, and can no longer easily reply, now having to search for my number through their phone book.
Also, when I try to send a text anyway using Vyke, it often does not go through, with a message appearing stating that Vyke is having problems connecting. To resolve this I have to exit the whole program and re-start Vyke, and try to send the message again, thus incurring further data charges, and sometimes having to do this multiple times. However this was a fault I experienced and persevered with with the previous version, however not with the frequency the error appears now.
Do these errors sound familiar to anyone else?
I emailed Vyke regarding the sender ID issue and recieved the exact same response:
Dear customer,
Thank you for contacting Vyke Support.

Kindly be aware that the sender ID of the SMS service had been fixed as the system number and it cannot be modify.
This is due to the new feature ( Edit Callback Number) had been implement in the application.
Please be advice to search the destination number from your original phone book while replying the SMS.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance. Kind Regards,
Vyke Support Team
I have informed them in my reply that this is not acceptable and is a major design flaw in their product which will cause many once-satisfied customers, such as myself, to stop using their product, that I hope they resolve it as soon as possible and that I shall no longer be using Vyke until they do so. I await their reply.
Such a shame, was very pleased with it before the changes.0 -

Hiya all,
Many thanks for the useful info on this.
I have been trying to get Vyke to run with my O2 PAYG simm card for a little while. Absolutely no problems installing it on my phone what so ever. However I get the same issues as reported by other 02 PAYG simm users - namely that it hangs forever on sending the message. Many thanks to Iaincc for blowing the lid on why.
Call me a cynic if you lie; regardless of the flowery language in the reply to Iain from O2 it quite simply seems to me that they aren't prepared to allow Vyke on their PAYG systems because it reduces revenue for O2. What a bunch of rip off merchants.
I am interested to see that users on here of Orange Simm cards seem to get no issue. Thus as far as I am concerned O2 can foxtrot oscar. I have just ordered myself a pay as you go SIMM with Orange. As someone pointed out this also gets me a Wednesday's 2 for 1 cineme ticket deal (Barry Norman look out). I rang Orange who confirmed no issue with moving my existing number to them once the new simm arrives so that's that.
Many thanks again all, much appreciated.0 -
A small point of clarification to the above. It's Vyle light that I am trying to run. My phone is a fairly old Nokia 6021 that won't support Vyke pro.0

Hi again all,
As per above I have now ordered an orange PAYG sim card so I can run vyke instead of being with O2. 1 thing was handy about O2 was the 10 free texts every month from a PC. I find this very handy when I'm abroad. Does anyone know if this is possible with orange? No great issue if not. Once I get vyke up and running hopefully that should reduce the benefits of texting from a PC.
Best regards,
