I've just returned from 2 weeks in Orlando, I took a little cash and this card which I had topped up with GBP and converted to USD.
I found the card very easy to set up.
Pros
It worked very easily in restaurants and shops, if the payment terminal gives you a choice select credit card as in the M&M store it didn't work as a debit card.
Some times I was asked to sign, sometimes I was asked for the PIN, sometimes I wasn't
Very easy to top up over wifi via both at home and when in USA
The app updated instantly
Con (just 1)
Revolut don't charge for cash withdrawals but every ATM I used charges, cheapest was the Chase Bank machines which charged USD2
Great card which I will be using when I return to the states next year (unless they introduce charges)0 -
Used this to buy a game from Columbian Xbox marketplace.
No issues.
Handy little set up.0 -
I've had one for a few months and have so far only used it for online shopping in non-Sterling - works fine and all is well
However I am in two minds about using it for my hols in February. I'd need to load just over £1k on it, mostly to pay for the hotel. I'm just slightly concerned that were the card not to work for whatever reason, then I'd still need to pay for the hotel with a CC but would have a fair chunk of money stuck on the revolut card until it's transferred back to my account. Am I just being completely irrational? I mean there's no real reason why the card wouldn't work, and I could cover a temporary double payment as it were, but somehow it just gives me the creeps :rotfl:Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
I wanted to buy something off the net in another country so did a Google and noticed the revolut on this site and the good review. Thought this is great, downloaded the app and tried to transfer money via debit card. Failed so tried with a bank transfer.
Waited 24 hours checking my account to see when the money would come in, nothing so sent an email, they said will check and get back. Nobody got back.
Checked 48 hours nothing still, emailed again they would check and get back. Never did.
Tried online chat, emails. They said may be an issue, so double checked all details and sent a screenshot of money leaving my account as their request. No response from them.
Spoke to my bank they confirmed has been sent o.k and 'accepted' by Revolut. Another email sent and now at this stage very peed off, so say sort it out else I will have to raise a small claims. Nothing just another will look into it and get back which they never do.
I have asked my bank to send a conformation payment letter and looks like I will have to take to small claims which I have no issues doing, as I have to say even thou the money was small, the customer service is shocking bad, for something that could be an error, but looks like they are not really bothered in trying to sort issues out. So unless anyone can advise something to help I hope no one else has the issues I have.0 -

Loading by bank transfer can take a few days I believe, weekend may prolong it. Keep on their case if it doesn't show up, and let us know how it goes...Evolution, not revolution0 -

No, the possibility of failure is always there, but by all accounts it's very low.
I normally take a MasterCard, a Visa, and an Amex on holiday to cover all eventualitites, plus a debit card :rotfl:If you can load your Revolut by a debit card that will work for the £1k when you need it, you could delay doing that until you are more confident, perhaps even by using it in the hotel for a smaller amount.
Good idea, though in order not to panic my bank's fraud detection system, I was thinking of loading several batches of around £400 each between now and Feb via bank transfer rather than over £1k in one go from within the revolut app.
I'll keep mulling it over
Edit: I think I've made up my mind and will just use the PO platinum for the hotel bill as usual, but will load some money on the Revolut for incidentals and cash withdrawals. That way I won't end up with too much locked in the card if there's a problemNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
Thanks, very useful to know about the delivery delay. My daughter signed up on Saturday and I've advised her to ask for the emergency card to be sent in time for her skiing trip....Evolution, not revolution0

My daughter didn't take my advice, but her normal card was delivered yesterday (22nd). She signed up and requested it Saturday 12th. So it's curious that pmramsey was told that no cards would be sent out until January 5th.
It looks to me like you're getting priority treatment for the normal card delivery. I still haven't received mine and it looks like others are experiencing the same or greater delay. But I'm not really expecting a card now since I closed my account. Overall I put Revolut in the ranks of time-wasters not worth bothering with.0 -
All is not well in Revolut land
I changed the debit card linked to my Revolut since the old one had expired and topped up as I wanted to buy a few things in USD. Top-up went through but Revolut came up with a "to keep your account safe, verify you card" - fair enough, except that following the instructions doesn't work. First I had to wait for the transaction to show on my online banking to get the 4-digit transaction code for the latest top up, but inputting it returns an error message.
I'll see how I get on with support chat, but right now they have about £130 of my money and I can't access it
Edit: Support chat isn't going too well - very disappointing - after an initial few messages exchanged (not instant I may add), I've now not heard back from them for over 40 minutes. I'll leave it for another hour and then give them a call I think; their offices aren't even a couple of miles from me, I might just pop over :rotfl:Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0
