It seems it's a good service
But there is a question puzzling
The company's headquarters and the bank in London
The card issuer of the Russian Federation!

    Are you not well?

Response to what? I simply posted information about the card issuer.
If you were asking a question, it is appropriate to include a question mark. No need to include one if you are not asking a question.
    Perhaps you should begin again.
  • There was no misuse of the card at my end! Money was put on the card before travelling to US. When the card was used to make a purchase it was declined. Revolut claim this was due to the wrong pin number. However, since then not only they have failed to re-set pin, or do anything to ensure that money can be taken out of an ATM, which it can't as I've tried this. Neither can the funds be withdrawn - so as previously stated there is something very disconcerting about this company and their services.
Fortunately I also took out a Caxton FX card at the same time. They are brilliant – easy to use, easy to top up and accepted everywhere I went!

Ok, excuse me for assuming misuse.

So whose mistake was the wrong pin number, yours or Revolut's? Were you using the correct pin for your card? It is available to view on the app. Or the correct pin didn't work?

What happened with attempts to withdraw funds using the app?

With CaxtonFX you are paying much more for your dollars.

Given that the Revolut app has been mentioned a lot on here I thought I'd give it a try - I have an account in France that I occasionally use so it seemed like a good way to top it up.

However, when I try to add my French account to be able to transfer funds to it, I just keep getting the "Unknown error occurred" message as mentioned earlier in this thread. Not exactly very confidence inspiring. I'm now wondering if any money I transfer onto my Revolut account will just end up stuck there unless I order one of their cards.

Maybe I'll try their support some other time but don't have time to faff around right now...

It seems to be a common problem since their app updated to a new version last week. No doubt they are working on a solution and hopefully they will succeed soon. You could give them a call to see what the story is. Meanwhile have you tried withdrawing back to the original source account?

I posted earlier in this thread and wanted to update having been in Austria skiing last week.

The Revolut card worked very well indeed. I tried it at Gatwick initially, because I hadn't used the physical card before, and took £10 out in GBP from an ATM with no issues. I'd changed the pin from the original one via the app and wanted to check it had worked ok before loading with more funds. Off the back of this success I loaded £200 onto the card to draw down on over my trip. After withdrawing this over the first few days I loaded a second £200 and was able to withdraw cash on the card immediately.

Cash withdrawals and the exchange rate I received were as follows. I've included the mid-market rates at at 17:00 UTC on the day of each withdrawal:

    10/01: 100 EUR at 1.3221 (1.3288 per XE.com)
    11/01: 100 EUR at 1.3374 (1.3383 per XE.com)
    13/01: 250 EUR at 1.3326 (1.3318 per XE.com)
    16/01: 90 EUR at 1.2994 (1.3058 per XE.com)

I didn't put any purchases on the card and used my Halifax Clarity card for these purchases. 1 of the 4 withdrawals I got a better rate than the mid-market closing rate, 3 of the 4 I got a worse rate. Overall the withdrawals cost me £407.30, versus £406.62 had I got the mid-market closing rates.

It's worth me noting all the withdrawals were made on either a weekend, or outside banking hours.

The only slight hitch was that I wasn't able to buy an item on the flight. It may be that prepaid cards aren't able to make offline transactions, but I thought I'd test it nevertheless.

Very pleased overall and it will definitely have a place in my wallet for future travels. Next up will with DKK on a trip to Copenhagen in February. It compliments the Halifax Clarity card beautifully.

I haven't actually put any money in yet... I thought I'd get an account set up to receive the money before putting it in.

What is stopping the funds from being withdrawn to your bank account?
