Up until June last year I was smoking 25 cigs per day at least .It used to cost me over £18 per week
£18 a week on 25 a day - where on earth were you buying fags at £2 a packet?

I make all our packed lunches the night before, usually while dinner is cooking. Then all we have to do in the morning is grab the box from the fridge.
As for smoking - I'm not a smoker but I've heard plenty of people say good things about the e-cigs. Is he willing to give them a go?0 -
As others have said, quitting smoking would free up cash for him, but I sympathise with him as it's not so much a choice, as it is an addiction. He needs a lot of willpower to give it up. Maybe if he could put what he would have spent on cigs in a pot and save towards a treat, it might motivate him more? If he smokes cigarettes he could be spending easily £50+ per week, although less if he rolls his own. Or maybe he could aim to cut down, just so he's spending much less.
It's easy for money to disappear on work lunches as well. OH realised he was spending £100+ a month on supermarket sandwiches, snacks and drinks, and he often makes his own now. Add that on to a possible £200 on smoking, and that's a nice chunk of "personal spends" without having anything to show for it. Maybe you could each start a spending diary? (write down where every penny went!)
Could yous come to some sort of agreement with food stuff maybe? Say, you could make you both packed lunches for work, if he makes dinner 3 or 4 times a week and cleans up after? (and sure, if he wants to save money then he can cook meals from scratch). I'm a SAHM so I do most of the housework and meals, and occasionally manage to nag OH into a few chores, but if I worked full time I'd be feeling resentful if he didn't pull his weight around the house.

he can't be bothered to make a packed lunch because he can't be bothered to get up any earlier than 5 mins before he leaves he house.
Make sandwiches the night before, or indeed make a few days worth. What do you think the supermarkets do? They don't make them in the morning!
Give up smoking too
Also nagging and moaning is the best way to get somebody to do something......0 -
Last night he accused me of wasting too much on 'fancy' food. But to be honest after working a 10 hour day and not getting any help at home (I do all the cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing etc) I buy easy food as the last thing I want is to be cooking a massive meal after 8pm when I'm shattered!0

I think there is something going on and the problem is being vented via money. He probably needs a kick up the back side and become more motivated to do better!0

A friend some years back used to spend one Sunday a month making sandwiches for the month ahead and freezing them, he had to be careful on the fillings but Cheese / Ham/ chutneys /chicken / smoked salmon/ roasted veggies etc work well, in the morning he could grab and go0

I'd be drawing up a list of chores and sitting down with him to split it! How dare he do nothing at home when you both work full time and have a young child!
He'll have less energy to moan if he is busy and tired from pulling his weight in the house. He'll also have more of an appreciation of how hard it is to cook after a long day, housework and looking after your child.
Out of interest, who gets up in the night if your little one wakes up?[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.
