    What's a penny mile?

I haven't spent any money today - yay.

Its when you go for a walk and at every corner of the road you flip a coin - heads you head left and tails is right...

quite fun as long as you don't keep getting heads or tails continuously, we did managed to get out for a little stroll :-)

westie - how did the hospital visit go earlier in the week? Sory - kept meaning to ask and then forgot.

It is glorious sunshine here and we'll be off to cross Lunnon and head norf soon enough, where the forcast seems to be for a week of rain. A true British seaside holiday ahead! The bucket and spade and swinsuits (and waterproofs) are packed!

Bob -yeah youngest daughter off to Oz with her boyfriend. He has done this before plus got a trade so hopefully work as well. Why not? Hopeful I. Will clear my debts and visit them.

Love to get down to one Credit card. Last yr had five so progress.

Good for them. We visited Oz in 2003, my husbands best friend is an Aussie and was living there at the time. Has since been in the UK for 8 years. We spent time in Cairns diving the great barrier reef and loved Sydney so much, would have loved to spend a year living there. Being able to dive every weekend and do lots of outdoor fitness would just have been heaven. The beach cliff top walk that goes from Bondi to Codgee is just stunning.
But then we bought a flat. And then we took in a little stray kitten and before you know it we were married, doing a house renovation & having a baby! My OH is too old now to go without a visa and with the business there is just no way currently. I will always be honest with my son about how if you want to do things it's best to seize the day. Procrastination is a bad thing!!

Good on you getting your CCs down so well. That's amazing progress:T

Westie - the penny mile sounds fun, I might suggest it to our cubs/scouts/guides groups.

My children don't finish school until Tuesday so last night we were having a look through our card stash for suitable cards for teachers. Two are leaving and DD is leaving and we are also sending a card to the lollipop man (without doubt the best lollipop man in the world) as she won't see him very often after Tuesday. I don't do presents for teachers I think it is madness.

Today will involve spending money - DD received a birthday invite for Wednesday so we need to get a small gift for that, we need to get her some bits to make a packed supper for a trip she is going on tonight, we have most of it in but just want to get her a bread roll and a bottled drink.

  • Happy Saturday all! Dolly84, I totally agree about presents for teachers, but as OH is a teacher I'm not going to complain, hehe! Calling, Oz sounds exciting for your daughter :)apple, have a lovely holiday!
Today has been a fantastic day! Walked to Mr A's this morning to get food for the week, took one look at the cleaning products and thought "nah," so went to Home B's and got some Stardrops - people on here seem to rave about them, so I'm going to put them to the test! Spent less than £15 for the week as still using the batch cook, but it's coming to the end so took advantage of Mr T's £16 off £60 for new online shoppers and have bought so much stuff! Will spend next weekend (shop is coming on Friday night) cooking and freezing, and results should last us for a long time :-) (I really enjoy batch cooking, I know I'm sad!)
We were going to go to the local farm shop for a look around, which inevitably involves buying nice things, but I convinced OH to go for a walk around the nature reserve and park near our house instead - totally free and I saw LOADS of blackberry and elderberry bushes, which has got me thinking about when to go back to pick the fruit to make some liqueurs, jams and pies (which I will give as presents and share with friends). Again, because I'm sad this has made me very excited! So, even though it was a food spendy day, we haven't broken the bank at the farm shop :D money is going to be VERY tight in August (wedding season!) so I'm glad we can save a bit more in July.
Hope everyone else is having a nice Saturday x

    Afternoon all,

I need to confess, I've had my 6 monthly visit the N3xt sale today. I got 2 blazers (apparently staff will be expected to be smarter next year at our school!), a work top, 2 bras, an oven glove and 6 wicker storage baskets in order to tidy up the linen closest. All the money came from my marking money so no debt increase but a decrease in potential debt payments. As a result I also lost a SFD so I'm falling behind on that target :(

Tomorrow will be a SFD as just visiting family and doing more chores around the house. I too am eating up the batch cooked freezer contents in preparation for payday on Friday and a big food shop and cooking session next weekend.

Calling I completely understand how you feel about weekends and being home alone. I have decided to make sure I see at least one person a day on the weekends, so today I tagged along when my parents went to price up getting a new car and tomorrow I've invited myself to visit my gran.

Next week is going to be potentially be very costly. I have a handyman coming to fix/put up/ sort out various bits of my house for which I have neither the skills nor tools, my car needs a new cam belt, has a warning light on and the steering isn't quite right and one of the dogs is at the vets for an op! Oh well, at least none of these should increase my debt and the marking has given me the money to cover them :)

Hope you've all had the sunny weather I've had here today, it's been sunny, cloudy and windy but glorious :)

A spendy day for me as well - I've been to the supermarket and got the food shop for the week, stocked up on toiletries plus bought most of the presents for July/August/September birthdays. Should be a NSD tomorrow as I'm on a double shift and hopefully I'll get a few more during the week.
