    Definitely calling

Hugs to mothernerd, hope you feel better soon

Today was a SFD and was very productive. Cleaned every inch of the bathroom, except I forgot the ceiling, dogs walked, visited parents and got free dinner and leftovers to bring home :) Also my dad very kindly gave me some money towards getting my car fixed as he knows my budget is very tight now I'm on my own. So today I am very grateful for wonderful family - for their company, support, love and generosity.

    Hi All

Fmess - I wouldn't call us quiet, we're on page 20 of this thread, pleasingly just in time for the 20th day, nerdy and geeky me? Yes :) glad you had a relaxing time. You deserve it.

AcademiaBlues - that's an interesting tip on picking elderflower. I had no idea the rain could make a difference to flavour.

Mothernerd - sorry you aren't feeling good. Hope you will again soon.

WelshKitty - Horray for generous guests at your son's birthday do. And for a sensible boy putting half away. Also hope your business got some good exposure and leads on to other things.

Dolly - A good saving on not attending your daughters class then.

Calling - now I have 'these boots were made for walking' stuck in my head :rotfl: sounds like a good sensible purchase to me.

Abundant - Glad you are feeling better.

Westie - will everyone please stop talking about roast dinners, I had pasta for mine and I'm feeling very envious :D

Well today was a NSD for me although not for the business as I had a party to buy for. Had a very crazy day due to the main kitchen sink in the cafe being blocked solid and not draining, & the commercial dishwasher breaking down. The short version is my husband is amazing and bought a 5 metre rod for £10 in B & Q which when inserted into the plumbing system managed to clear the blockage. Relief no 1. Relief no 2 he fixed the dishwasher, an element had tripped out. I know it's lame to be so in awe of your own partner but seriously the man can turn his hand to anything. I am constantly amazed at the things he sorts out for us. Considering he is a computer programmer he is just a legend at practical stuff too. I will now shut up!

So anyway today was mad. The party went well. The parents were happy and said some nice things when paying the bill and I am glad of the revenue.

After the wonderful christening yesterday and party today though I am somewhat pooped. I've already said I am doing nothing at all next weekend after 3 busy ones back to back.

I did manage some small debt free things today.
    1. Uploaded a reciept to checkoutsmart and claimed 50p back on some sausages.
    2. Washed 4 loads to take advantage of the great drying conditions.
    3. Grated the skin off a lemon that I'd squeezed a while back instead of just putting the whole thing in the compost. Froze the rind for use in a lemon drizzle cake.
    4. We had a basic pasta meal made from tomatoes, 1 sausage, carrots and cheese for dinner. We were so tempted to phone for a takeaway after the crazy weekend so proud we didn't.
    5. Reheated a home made apple pie I'd made a few weeks back. It was ok. Nothing special bit pleased it didn't go in the bin.
    6. Watered all the plants, including the various small quantities of veggies we have growing.
    7. Brought back leftovers from the party that hasn't been touched so fine from a h & s POV.
    8. Changed the beds so we've lovely sheets to crash out on tonight.
    9. Cycled all journies
    10. Probably saved £200 plus on call puts thanks to OH

And that is as they say that!

    Night all

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for all the kind wishes regarding my business. Am really hoping it takes off, even if just enough to ease the pressure while I do my masters.

Hugs to anyone not feeling too good.

Today has been fairly productive. Was in work until 4.30. Needed milk and butter so picked these up while I was out but have still managed to put off the big shop. Cooked a roast dinner when I got home and also a stew for tomorrow and some bread (as I refused to pay £1.30 for the cheapest option they had in the shop!). Have had to give in and order some new work shoes as I have worn a hole through the bottom of mine. I got them reduced from £40 to £17 though and got them through a cash back site.

Will be treating myself to a b00ts meal deal tomorrow as I have a code on my phone to get it for £1, plus a 30p off voucher, so can really complain at 70p!

Sounds like everyone has been busy today. I hope you feel better soon mothernerd.

Its been a NSD for me today so 12/20. Been on a double shift so very easy not to spend any money. I ate lunch and tea at work for free :) which stretches my food budget a little bit further.

    Night everyone.

  • Hello all!

Please forgive this turtle who has been hiding in her shell in hibernation for the last three days. I promise I have been a good turtle and managed to bag 3 more NSD's making my total 15/20 NSD's.

I served as parent/staff in DS2's scout camping over the weekend (Friday and Saturday only as I had to go to work on Saturday evening). I thought it would be a spendy weekend as I thought I would need to buy some food to pack for the camp but laziness and tiredness set in. I ended up packing our stuff an hour before we left for the campsite and ended up not going shopping. Which is just as well because there were plenty of stuff in the cupboard to take with us without having to go shopping. I almost bought a small tent for myself to stay in but hubby dug his heels and said no. We have a small 3-person tent that we got off a nice couple on Freecycle 3 years ago which we haven't used since receiving it and I thought it was way too small. It turns out that the tent is actually brand new and unused and quite roomy and came with a brand new camp bed too. I am so pleased I listened to my hubby. The camp fee for DS2 all weekend was only £10 and was paid a few weeks ago, and because I was one of the staff, I didn't have to pay. Not bad at all for a weekend of fun and adventure.

I stayed in bed all day Sunday recovering from night shift and I am now halfway through the second one. Can't wait til 7am when I can snuggle in bed. I am hoping today would be another no-spend day too as we have plenty of stuff in the fridge and cupboard to last us a few more days.

Payday is only a few days away (we get paid on the 24th) and I am hoping I could make another dent in the cc balance to get me to my target and my stretch target too and purchase the bed we agreed on principle with the shop owner. The July budget is looking good so far. A few areas in the budget remains untouched and could be carried over to the next month. Will update you later in the week.

    Have a good Monday everyone!

    Morning turtles

Today I've got a busy day - am heading to work at the moment then popping round to see a friend after work followed by a gym class with another friend. Am hoping that I'll be too busy to spend so today should be a NSD. Someone please tell me off if I come back later reporting spends :p

    Morning All

The Only Girl - hope you got through the rest of your night shift and are slumbering peacefully now. The scouting trip sounds ace. And wow to your NSD count! You and Westie are on fire this month:T

MissTara - have a good day, sounds a busy one. Good luck bagging another NSD.:D

Well bed feels very comfy right now. Working Sunday then going in Monday is hard. I shouldn't wish my life away but next weekend can't come soon enough!

I don't know how much more paying off I can do between now and the end of the month. It's annoying I have an online bank at times like this as I will be getting tips etc still but they obviously need paying in to transfer over to a CC. Will need to have a think about how I can best make use of those.

those feeling blue about NSD counts or progress can still make a difference in this last 11 days. Dig deep Turtles!

My hubby could probably learn a thing or two from your hubby. Mine is not very fond of anything diy. Before our LBM he was extra fond of the yellow page, calling the "professionals" at every opportunity. Throughout our debt busting journey he had been forced to learn to do diy albeit slowly. I probably just need to be more patient and give him a chance to take it on on his own pace. Where can I buy patience? Oops that's not very MSE, is it?

Congratulations on your successful party again. Don't block off the following weekends yet, for sure the satisfied customers will pass the message on and before you know it all your weekends will be booked, you'll need weekend staff. I can just about feel it with my antennae.

:T for resisting the take away. You just saved yourself a lot of money for cooking instead of ringing. It feels good doesn't it?

I love the idea of the lemon zest! I will borrow that idea.

Night shift wasn't too bad. It's one of my quieter shifts. My shifts are normally manic, so a bit of quiet is much appreciated. I am still debating whether to go straight to bed or try to stay awake as long as possible so tonight I will be tired and I will be forced back to "normal" sleeping pattern. I am back to 7am start on Wednesday.
