    Good morning all!

Bob so pleased to hear how good your business is running. It must be very physically tiring for you. How far along are you now? Please make sure you get enough me time in between good trades. So impressed AND INSPIRED by your progress with the EF and cc payments.

Hi Apple very impressive sig. Stretch target not too far off.

Fmess thanks for the suggestion about gif gaff. I will utilise the next 10/40 days to look for the perfect sim-only-plan that I can cap. My current tariff for myself and my boys are capped so we don't go over the limit. DS2 is already on a very cheap tariff at £8. My current mobile phone contract (£33) and DS1's (£27) will run out at the same time on the 24th of August. Lots of potential savings there to put towards buying the next handset off hand with cash.

I checked my bank account late last night and what a bad move! I had a very disturbed sleep because I found out that BT charged me £129 for a repair I had to fight them for 1 month in May. The whole month of May we had no phone line. The Internet was very intermittent if any and it took several irate phone calls, 2 engineers and 1 month to fix it. If anything they should be refunding me for the service interruption and not charging me £129. I phoned their customer service first thing this morning and after checking the notes on my phone calls and the engineer's report, they are happy to concede that I shouldn't have been charged for it. They are refunding me £129 within the next 7 days. :money:

It just goes to show IT PAYS TO BE BOTHERED to look at your accounts (something we weren't very good at in the past). During the height of our indebtedness, we didn't have the time and inclination to check bank accounts, statements didn't even get opened, and phone calls not answered. Until everything came crashing down on us. Hence the light bulb moment. Looking back we were ULTIMATELY FOOLISH back then, but NEVER AGAIN.

DS2 will be camping this weekend with the scout group in our church. As one of the staff, I will be camping with them as well. And the rain decided to put in an appearance. It's been gloriously summery all week and now that the school is breaking up and we're going camping, it is grey, dull, wet and cold. We need to summon up Mr. Sun.

Breakfast is ready and waiting downstairs courtesy of Mr, Hungry Hippo. Enjoy your NSD's everyone!

Morning turtles its Friday. Only working until 12 today so happy happy happy.
Impressed you are all planning next months debt busting already. So looking at mine would be lovely to clear one of mine roughly be about 340.00 left on it next week. Be a tough one as I already overpay my other one and don't want to mess around changing the DD. Both interest free but my Bcard deal expires sooner.

Academia - thanks doggy bouncy and back to normal daft self thanks

Welshkitty - will you stop having all these parties or at least invite me - chocolate cake!!!!

The Only Girl - well done on your BT victory.

Hopeful of a SFD today, meeting youngest daughter after work so who knows, she is on a saving mission as going to Australia for a year in Jan, so maybe another SFD in the bag.

Have a lovely weekend folks x

    Morning

It is a horrible day here, was planning to go to the gym but took one look out the window and decided to be lazy instead. I'm not leaving the house until it's time to go to work so today will be a NSD (11/20).

Payday today so have made a £10.64 payment to the debt which takes me to 50% paid off :D I also put another £10 into the emergency fund.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Afternoon all! OH has just got home from work - he's a teacher, so has brought lots of nice things due to end of term. He has a new mug, some chocolates, and his boss has bought him a Superman bear that sings the song from Frozen (because he really dislikes the song!). I keep pressing it and giggling, it's a lovely bear but not sure he's keen on the noise it makes! :D:D:D he also got given some lager, but he really doesn't like the stuff so we've agreed to save it for a Christmas present for a friend who does like it. Frugal living strikes again!
NSD today as I'm home from work now and not intending to go out again. I'm going to spend some time in the garden with my plants, although it's a bit windy here today. Also put an extra £10 in the savings account - it all adds up :) happy Friday turtles!
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

    Hi The Only Girl

Thanks so much. I am really happy things are picking up. I have just done the weekly total & it is the 2nd best total since we reopened 4 months ago. And I still have the partys revenue to input as well so it may well be the same as our best week!

I dont find it too bad really. I have always been a very high energy person & I dont really flag when Im flat out working, but I have noticed lately that my back has been very sore at times towards the end of the day, however I am carrying a big fat baby in there so not completely unexpected:rotfl: was 28 weeks according to the midwife on tuesday.

Thank you for your kind comments, this challenge has been really motivating this month, I've really enjoyed running it, and being with all of you. It comes to something when you think of things during the day and cant wait to get online to tell your 'turtle buddies'

p.S I am very glad to hear you got your BT money refunded. I personally am very wary of DDs for this reason. I always cancel them once they are no longer needed as I don't trust companies not to hoik cash out as and when. Well done on your vigilance.

    Bob

    Evening everyone.

Sorry about missing yesterday... Quick check in today as feeling a little blue :( <--- (i know - technically purple!).

Is funny - I thought when I was debt free somehow all my troubles would vanish and I'd be happy 24/7. Life encroaches and I find myself feeling sad... The plus is - whereas before having debt would just drag me down further when life dealt me a blow - now - I think positively and ask myself - but look at what you *have* got and what you *have* achieved.

Keep at it folks - being debt free doesn't make you immune to lifes ups and downs, but it provides you with a very comfy cushion on which to mope!!!

    Yesterday = SFD number 10
    Today = SFD number 11

    Roll on weekend xxx

PS Bob - thanks for the rousing Dolly Parton tribute, and congrats on the Emergency Fund achievement too!!!

Westie - how many is that now? Sorry was looking in your sig but couldn't see there. You must be pretty high already?

Calling - that's really exciting about your daughters Aus trip. She is the daughter with no children yet is that right? Also isn't it funny how we both have 1 smaller card we are trying to clear but the big ones get in the way? I have 2. Pretty much £4,000 on the big and now £442 on the small. I think it would be a massive boost to me to have just 1 debt left. Do you feel the same?

Apple - don't worry about NSDS on your holiday. You have done so much already and a holiday should be a treat.

WelshKitty - your son's home made birthday cake sounded delicious.

AcademiaBlues - how nice to have all those gifts for OH end of term. And good idea to put some away if you don't want or need them yourselves.

Fmess - thanks for your comments on the working 9 to 5 thing. Work seems to often be like that. Never steady always manic or dead slow. What age do you teach?

Mothernerd - you were certainly up late with your book. What was it that had you son engrossed? Always mean to ask how old DS3 is as well?

Dolly - well done on your NSD

Miss Tara -congratulations on reaching 50% that's a huge milestone!

Abundant - we cross posted. Just read yours. I think that's what the experts always preach about. We imagine our life would be amazing if we lost a stone, became debt free, could speak another language, had a better job. But the reality never matches the vision we put on a pedestal. I think that mindfulness is a useful tool for combating those feelings, or personally I try and follow those suggestions when I feel overwhelmed. Look at the beauty here right now. Bring yourself back into the moment rather than imagining a better other time. I've probably not explained that very well sorry. Glad you liked the Dolly :) she's very uplifting in my humble opinion.
