Good result, but LBA + MCOL for the lot would have been cheaper and saved you lots of time and hassle.

Received a cheque yesterday for full amount of cashback plus costs after going through MCOL.
Would recommend this route rather than wasting time with phone calls, letters etc.
  • Having not received my automatic cash back, I sent a LBA to The Carphone Warehouse, 1 Portal Way, by signed for delivery, last Friday. The RM track and trace service states - Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered. I have rung RM customer service who say that Carphone Warehouse take bulk delivery of mail and can take up to 3 weeks to return the proof of delivery. As I gave them 10 days to pay the entire cash back, it is quite likely that I will not have proof of delivery before the 10 days has past.

My question is – do I assume that delivery has taken place and proceed to MCOL after 10 days even if I do not have proof of delivery?

    Many Thanks

A LBA doesn't need to be sent recorded delivery. Sending it thus results in more of a problem than it solves. You have no need to prove delivery but the fact you sent it recorded and it didn't track implies you know they never received it.
  • Thanks for the reply, but given that I have sent the LBA by signed for delivery, what would be your advice on the best way to proceed?
The choices I see I have are:
    • Wait until it does track – RM customer services said up to 3 weeks.
    • Forget the original LBA and send another, with a new deadline, by first class post.
    • Proceed to MCOL on the date given with my existing LBA.
    Or any other suggestions?
    Thanks

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for RM to track. They're worse than E2Save. Since they don't know you sent it recorded delivery (I presume) you could simply proceed with MCOL as long as the copy of the letter you sent doesn't say it was rd. Otherwise I'd go with option 2 (wouldn't waste money on first class though - you've already lined RM'S coffers once!).

    Hi Kfng,

Yeah I got my bill last week and sent it straight away, so I am expecting my cheque any day now.

I am actually moving house this weekend - I'm in two minds whether or not to update my address with 02, I might just pop back to my old house to pick up the bills when they're due. It's all gone smoothly so far with these cashback claims, and I'm worried if I go changing anything then e2save might mess me around.
