Getting a bit terse Quentin? Thought that was my province!

Yes, If I didn't know Quentin better I'd say that when he posted that comment he was a bit MAD (and I'm not using the airport code for Madrid Barajas Airport);)
  • It appears I may have fallen foul of OSPS cashback confusion and am currently discussing a cashback claim refusal that has been knocked back because the claim was received a day late.

It is the second claim and the contract is now over 180 days old. Having read the T&C's there is a penalty for cancelling the contract under the 180 day mark but after 180 days it appears I can cancel without penalty. has anyone actually done this? I am hoping they will see sense and send me my 2nd cashback but if not I am prepared to cancel the contract rather than take them to court.

Yes mate, of course I will.

biddwiser, i've got my first cheque today. hopefully, i got another 4 of them in coming months.

i would like to thank mobilejunkie here. :-). his advise is hard but effective.
i will be posting my situation on how i got my cashback later on this forum for the benefit of future ppl. however, i would want to do it after the money is credited into my account or else it doesnt mean anything having the cheque and not the money. my advise to you guys out there is to heed's mobilejunkie advise, the advice which i think is best for everyone, " if you do not want to go thru all the hassle and problems, unsure of anything such service OSPS will offer, or even do not want to waste any money, DONT signup for cashback phones"

i know there will some ppl saying, what if this dipstick doesnt tell the truth?? i guess you guys just need to believe and reference it with others who got their cashbacks. i heed mobile junkie's advice and also reference with my friends who got his cheque. So. the truth will set you free.

You can cancel a mobile phone contract at any time.

But if the contract is still inside its minimum period you will still have to pay an early termination fee to the network.

If (in their eyes) you have broken the cashback conditions by claiming late, then they won't back down unless you have some legal grounds to make them.

That is what this "game" is all about - they feel they have won!

The contract is now past the minimum period of 180 days. My gripe is that they appear to have denied my claim as it arrived 1 day late, despite it being redirected to another office. It must have arrived at Crewe on time. Anyway I am aware its "a game" but if I am outside the minimum term I will leave the "game" and join something else:D I was trying to establish if there are any hidden clauses I should be aware of as I don't trust contacting OSPS for advice:rolleyes:

You need to read your network agreement, not your osps contract regarding terminating after 180 days.

Was it a 6 month SIM only contract you got?

Most contracts from osps are for a minimum of 12 or 18 months with the network.

It was a 12 month contract. I'll have a look at the network contract then if I'm tied in so be it. Lifes full of lessons:rolleyes:

In that case you may as well put up a bit of a fight with osps to get your cashback.

If you have proof of posting, together with proof of the delivery being late being due to their redirection you have a good case.

The minimum term is often inaccurate on cpw/e2save/osps websites - has been for nearly 12 months. It also merely refers to the time before you can DOWNGRADE a tariff - NOT cancel the contract. It's very important people understand WHAT they are doing with these deals!! The CASHBACK claims have NOTHING to do with the network contract. Messing with THAT will cause additional (and potentially more serious) consequences!
